To the people who say Moore isnt the answer

I read somewhere some time ago that Moore has struggled with the playbook. If so, then that would probably limit some offensive plays if he were QB, particularly pass plays. And can he read defenses as well as Jake? This could be another substantive issue. How does he respond to pressure from the pass rush? Is he better or worse than Jake.....probably worse in practice. How well does he see his potential receivers downfield and how quickly does he assess the defense on each play as it develops after the snap?

Obviously, the only way to find out would be to give him some playing time, which could be costly for the team or beneficial.

I blame the offensive pass calling responsibility (either Davidson or Fox) for not reducing most if not all pass plays to within 5 to 15 yards or so beyond the line of scrimmage for Delhomme. This would probably have increased his efficiency, and given Smith more opportunities to be available for a reception before a safety could effect double coverage on him. Also, as the offensive line and pass blockers have not performed effectively a good portion of the time, this would have reduced the probability of sacking the QB and/or applying pressure, thus causing a rushed pass. And rather than let Delhomme try to force so many passes, Davidson and Fox should have made him focus on ditching the ball or in a worst case scenario, tucking the ball and taking the sack.

Easier said than done.

For the first time in the Buffalo game, I would see Jake drop back and hope he didn't throw a pick. That is sad.

The Buffalo game was the last indicator I needed to know it was Jake Delhomme and not the O-line anymore. It wasn't the play of the running backs. It wasn't the play of the receivers. It was Jake Delhomme. Buffalo had virtually no pass rush. They were dropping everyone into coverage. The game plan was supposed to work. It DID work. Run the ball, pass short, take an occasional shot down the field. But it was on those shots down the field he wasn't able to perform. He couldn't hit anyone. I forgave him for the first interception, it was early in the game we could still come back. But then his play didn't improve. It didn't help with special teams playing bad either, but with better QB play, we don't have to rely on them.

So because we aren't buying into the hype that everyone has been pimping for Moore the last few days we are retards. I want to see Moore start but that doesn't mean I think he's going to do well. Thats my opinion it sounds like it's your opinion that hes going to be our savior or something. And to the OP' date=' don't say he cant be worse then Delhomme, of course he could be.[/quote']

my opinion is he's the answer RIGHT NOW. these discussions about the answer for a longterm qb are ignoring the matter at hand which is the fact that we have a starting qb who is playing awful and needs to be benched.

nobody knows what moore has to offer since he hasn't played much, whether moore is our longterm answer or not has nothing to do with the fact he should start becaus eof delhommes poor performances

Fox said, "Delhomme gives us our best chance to win." I wonder if he would still be saying that if Josh McCown didn't get hurt. I'd like to see Moore in a few games to see if he is any good. He hasn't played a significant role since 2007 so I'd put him in there. If that ever happens it will probably be at a home game and Jake was getting booed relentlessly. Even then I doubt it would happen. I don't think Moore is the "answer'' but we'll really never know if he doesn't get a shot.

We don't need an "answer" and we don't need a QB to come in and play good or great. We simply need a QB to not play as bad as Jake has done the past 6 weeks......and no matter what bs logic is used it is hard to argue any backup in the NFL could come in and play 6 consecutive games and be as big of a liability Jake has been.

Do we know for a fact that Delhomme can read a defense?
