Newton Vs Luck

Most people who discredit Cam's rushing ability as not being relevant to the overall package of him being a great QB are racist, in my experience.  It usually starts with "QBs aren't running backs"... then slowly evolves into "all he does is dance around"

I'm not ready to jump on the "racist" bandwagon, but do agree that Cam's rushing ability is overlooked. I attribute much of that to the fact that there really haven't been many (any?) quarterbacks like Cam who have made it to the Super Bowl, no less won it. The closest comparison to Newton would probably be Michael Vick, but I would take Cam, and his intangibles, every day.

Cam provides a threat that defenses have a difficult time preparing. To Luck's credit, he was *mostly* one dimensional and had to beat the other teams defensive schemes to succeed. Good for him, having some really excellent receivers to rely on to help him succeed.

Stats are great, but leadership is what makes a good team Super Bowl worthy. Luck was a great passer. I wouldn't necessarily call him a great leader.

So....you cite " hundreds (of) readily available and accepted" stats....that would support your position vs. the facts I posted....

....and you can't even post/produce a single solitary one?

That said, yes, I do believe turnovers are worth as much as TD's, possibly more....

>  TO's deprive the team of possible points

>  TO's simultaneously avail the other team of possible points

>  TO's destroy momentum for the team possessing the ball

>  TO's create momentum for the team capturing the ball

The expected value of each of those items adds up to a minimum of 6 points and I think a good argument can be made for 8 depending on how often a player/team turns it over close to the goal line (either end) vs. in the middle of the field.

Bottom Line:

Regardless of whether or not you like the stat, it's applied evenly and is fair to both players, period.

Who sits up late at night bashing their own QB because they have nothing better to do?

Either you're just seeking attention, you're crazy, or you're just a racist loser. Probably all three.

Here's one for you. Average for career. Rushing and Passing

Cam 4159 yds 30 TDs

Luck 3536 yds 26 TDs
