Story

Moore, who compiled a 2-1 record in three starts for the team in 2007, has completed 62 percent of his throws throughout his career and enjoys a respectable 3:3 touchdown-to-interception ratio. However, his inexperience at the position would likely lead defenses to attack the Panthers with a host of blitzes designed to neutralize the team's potent running game, and put the balance of the game on his right arm. Although it would be hard to play any worse than Delhomme, his insertion into the game would force the team to further scale back an offensive plan that has already been simplified to account for Delhomme's struggles.

Isn't the above what defenses do to Delhomme anyway?

yeah, nothing will change. the only difference is, we can either have QB woes with a guy who has had his shot, and not really achieved much and is playing terrible. or with a guy who has possible potential to become something but will still play terrible right now. putting moore in doesn't offer us an opportunity to save the season, the season is lost as far as playoffs are concerned but it does give us an opportunity to develop him and our other young recievers and prepare the team for next season. OR.... it might give us enough time to decide moore is crap too, and we need to make a move in the offseason to get a top QB from the draft or FA. but, if we don't see what moore is made of, we won't know. if we don't get another QB, and end up going with moore next year and THEN find out he's crap, well then we've wasted TWO seasons and this is what i fully expect fox to end up doing. lets test drive these guys now and see what we've got or if we need to make moves in the offseason to get ready for next year.

      Sports are a different animal. It's gladiator poo. You wouldn't go out and put the uniform on of the best burger maker in your neighborhood either. So, when we watch these athletes being amazing and giving their all, it is for more than just a check. The guys that are truly driven and love these games, they are doing it for many more reasons than the money. Boiling it down to a simple transactional thing is simplistic, at best. So, yeah, I can understand how Cam can feel jilted when other great Panthers are trotted out and honored by the organization and he isn't. Especially considering he is overwhelmingly the best QB to have ever played for us and literally put this franchise into the national spotlight because of the player he was, the things he accomplished and the personality that he is. So....yeah, I would be upset about that too if I were in his shoes. The money, that the business side. That other poo, that's personal.

      We have different people in place to do that now, but people don't seem to recognize that. I don't much care where they come from but this taking the third best QB top five in the draft over valuation because of the position, yeah we don't need to participate in that.  I build up an imaginary scenario where we can trade out of that position not too far back and get the defensive stud we want while having ammo to trade back into the late 1st if a QB falls. That we want.

      The Panthers really shouldn't be planning to bring back Dalton for a starting salary. It would 100% be a desparation move by the front office. He's only good for 3-5 games at a time. Same with Theilen. He shouldn't factor in the Panthers' plans going forward. If anything, do him a solid and trade him in the off season - if he's still on contract.
