Mario is in the last year of his contract. If Burns has a good rookie year and Haynes and/or Miller show promise we probably let Mario walk in free agency. Flexibility isn't a bad thing.

But you absolutely don't cut your best proven pass rusher two weeks before the regular season to save $8M in cap space.

What if he's not the best or in the top 3 anymore currently, does his past still save him with it being a odd 3-4 fit?

For record Im not 100% on this, just would not surprise me given the current team.

Would you rather sign Bradberry to new deal or keep Mario, if given the choice?

Burns is already showing out and deserves more snaps.

Panthers have far too many players on one year deals, after cuts half maybe on one year commitments.

Bradberry, Shaq, McCoy, Williams, Wright, and Love are the biggest ones.

Mario(31 years old) looks terrible when asked to drop in coverage.

Your profile picture is so fitting.

In what world is Mario currently outside if the top 3 pass rushers currently in the roster? Maybe that proves true by the end of the season, hell I honestly hope it does, but currently?

Long-term I'd take Bradberry all day everyday. Again through, Mario is on the last year of his current deal. He'll be a free agent this off-season. I would bet that there's a 75% chance we could be up letting him walk. That has absolutely no bearing in cutting him at the moment to save $8M though.

To get a deal done the panthers may need that 8 mill. Hes about to turn 32 in a few days and learning a new role/position while looking awful during a big part of it. Hes produced much longer than he should have. He has looked rather meh in 1 vs 1 in pre-season too.

It wouldnt shock me like everyone else.

We have $20M+ in cap space next season.

With only about 25 players under contract.

Adding Shaq and Bradberry ups it to 27, may need that 8 million in space right now to do so. Even if you dont use it, roll it over cause 20 million for 25 players and signing draft picks....... hurney may need to go dumpster driving in the third world.
