Hurricane Dorian

5 pm discussion from the NHC

Satellite and earlier reconnaissance plane fixes indicate that Dorian has been moving toward the northwest or 320 degrees at 12 kt. The cyclone is heading toward a weakness in the Atlantic subtropical ridge, and this northwest motion should continue for the next 24 to 48 hours. However, after that time, all the global models continue to build a strong ridge over the western Atlantic, and this flow pattern should force Dorian to turn more to the west-northwest toward Florida. All indications are that by this Labor Day weekend, a powerful hurricane will be near or over the Florida peninsula. The new NHC track forecast is a little bit to the south of the previous one, given that global models have a stronger ridge to the north and the track models show more of a westward motion. Users are reminded not to focus on the exact forecast track, as the average 5-day track error is around 200 miles.

looks at this point like Fl or possibly Ga

We are still somewhat recovering from last year here at the coast.

I am still doing clean up and cutting downed trees into firewood.  Still haven't got the holes in my window trim filled where I put up plywood for Florence.  Might as well wait now till the end of hurricane season.

Current projection have it hitting Orlando area and almost stopping... blowing whole energetic load onto central Florida and begin slowly moving to GA, SC and NC.  It will make hard right turn in NC and go East... turning NC into swamp.  Charlotte will see 4-5 days of hard rain.  It can dump 8-10 inches of rain in some areas.

Kinda funny the way that I look at certain things.....the boat needs a new coat of bottom paint and a detail....may as well wait till after the season.  Dock needs new wiring and water lines run....may as well wait till after the season.  Need to stain the deck....may as....well you get the idea.

Gotta say I'm not really into this current trend of monstrously powerful slow-moving hurricanes
