For all we know he could've been looking at IR anyway. It was always VERY vague what exactly this injury was.

Just a bunch of keyboard warriors jumping to conclusions and shitting on a guy who, like Cam, has been playing through near constant injuries for the past few years.

I honestly have a lot more respect for a guy admitting his heart is no longer in it and walking away than I would for a guy who just mailed it in and went through the motions to keep cashing those fat checks.

Exactly.  People on here calling him a quitter.

Damn my body sucks from just playing college ball.  Knees and hips are gone.

I feel bad for him.

Lets be real. The dude blew a kidney playing football. That’s not a high ankle, that’s not a shoulder or collarbone, that’s not even an ACL, that’s you fug the other one, your dead. Add on the amount of unreported concussions. Its not unexpected.

It could have been you can play football or go on dialysis for the rest of your life. Which would any of you choose.

I would have already walked.  I have said Luke should walk (and he is the best actual football player we have ever had in Carolina). I was one of the few that defended Otah.

But if we don’t get additional info I still think you can lightly poo on him for the timing is all.

good for him. colts seemed to really mismanage his injury a couple years ago and now with this mystery ailment... same thing you're seeing with trent williams with washington at the moment. not right to do this to players. at all.

he's smart, has money, and can get out before he takes more damage.

anyone giving him grief is a dick.

pretty sure he was projected to be ready.  So based on what we know at this point.....yeah, he deserves some poo for the timing IMO.

Now, if we get more info on his health.  Something there we don’t know about yet?  I could change that opinion.

and as I said, I don’t bash guys for valuing their health.  I never poo on Otah like 99% of the board.  The human body frankly wasn’t meant to be and used like Otah.  A freak physically.  And he used his head.  But unless there is something we don’t know I think his timing is shitty and he deserves a reasonable amount of poo for it.   Which frankly isn’t that much.  But it can mentioned

I don't know what else do you need to know lol. He hasn't been practicing all training camp. He's been dealing with nagging injuries. If you take in consideration what happened with his shoulder, this move isn't that surprising at all. The season hasn't started. Why drag the franchise along when you don't want to play anymore for a whole season and then retire next year. Why not do it now. Jacoby has been the starter they've been seeing anyway.

Dude, he has nothing to prove to anyone. Calling him soft because he lost the love for the game? Nah. Got out while he's still young enough to enjoy life never having to work ever again. Trying to get out before his body is forever ruined.

This. If Cam keeps taking hits he just may take that same thought and retire himself to prevent the same thing.

It's the timing of it. His heart didn't get out of it two weeks ago, that's what the fans are pissed about. Ebron/Funchess are in contract years hell maybe even TY, then vets like Houston who sign for a chance to contend. He gotta do what's best for him but it's tough this close to the season.

Unless luck had a serious injury set back a few weeks ago, him being viewed in a negative light from a fan base that's always went to bat for his shortcomings is pretty justified.
