Are we still propping up John Matsko?

You look at the actual investment the team has made in the offensive line and the results Matsko has gotten, and it's clear why he is respected around the league...

Yea....go look at the Pats O-Line post that I just made above this one.  That is called good coaching and making the most out of lesser players.

Our offensive line has never played a regular season game together. We have a new center, who just came off injury. We have an LT who was out all of last year with an injury. All of the guys on our line have played at a high level, just not together. Meshing takes time. I'll give them until the first quarter of the regular season. John Matsko is a good coach because he's made chicken soup out of chickenshit for us multiple seasons. Other high level players that go on to other teams cite him as one of their best coaches.

What has he proven?  That he is incapable of fielding a good offensive line?  If so, he has proven that over and over.

Dante Scarnecchia is proven...and since I brought him up, let's look at his tools, since you think that's all this is.

David Andrews:  UDFA

Joe Thuney:  3rd round.

Shaq Mason:  4th round.

Trent Brown:  7th round.  Played all 16 last season.

Marcus Cannon:  5th round.

That's called coaching, something that is sorely lacking here.  Tired of blaming this on the players at this point, and not pointing enough fingers at the coaching staff and the front office.

Matsko coached up

UDFA Norwell

3rd Turner

Toss away Oher (prior to concussion was playing well)

4th Daryl Williams (prior to shredding his knee, hence why everyone scared to offer him)

Ill take a those guys you listed up there over some Guy who's been cut from the Canadian League, a guy who's had HUGE redflags raised causing his stock to go from top 15 top 3rd round grade,  and a guy who is playing a position he hasn't played before coming off a Huge injury that scared the piss out of 31 other teams

A lot of what makes New England go is the timing of their passing game and the scheme. 12 doesn’t hold the ball very long. A lot of their passing game is short, pivot routes and tunnel screens. When they do go deep, it’s well-designed. Dante is a world-class Coach, too. Guys like that don’t grow on trees.

Ding ding ding

Everyone see's the highlights of Brady hitting a deep ball, but 90% of their game is get it out of his hands faster than 3 seconds.  This the reason that system has been so friendly to other guys like Cassel, Brissett, Jimmy G.

Teams who have success against them are teams that press the WRs.  Even then thats when Gronk came because you cant press him, so when teams would press WRs Brady always would check to him and the RBs (thus why their RBs have so many receptions)

To be fair to Matsko, the pat's line is rarely asked to block for numerous 5-7 step drops throughout the game. Pats run a quick dink and dunk offense. We run the air coryell.

They are able to pass protect, or run the ball down your throat at will.  Seemingly we can't pass protect, and we need our QB to be our 2nd leading rusher over the last 7 years.

Easier to run when you aren't tired from blocking on passes for twice as long as the other team.

Sound like Ron...more excuses.

If you can't figure out how to run a scheme that compliments your players abilities, then you need to be put out to pasture.

Yep, the wr have optional routes. They have to read coverage also and find soft spot in schemes. Beli took that element from the run n shoot offense from way back. Hard to stop when everyone is on same page.
