Are we still propping up John Matsko?

Just now, Panthers are good said:

Ron. Rivera.

Simple as that, man has proven time and time again that he is just a Player's coach Ra Ra

More of a coaches coach. He let's sorry ass coaches stay and throws the players under the bus.

Ha, this is also true. Like I always say: Ron always blames it on missed opportunities and not executing but the Panthers lose games by one score often making a few mistakes. If the team was better prepared, a few mistakes a game wouldn't doom the team. Ron Rivera expects perfect execution instead of making adjustments to counter what the other team throws at him. It's happened his entire tenure here and was never more apparent than in Super Bowl 50 when the Broncos said they were ready for the Panthers and that they hadn't changed a thing.

Look, we can say that the problems in the past were due to Shula sucking(still Ron's job to replace him and that took forever) but once your bread and butter starts sucking(as the defense did last year) and you continue to play a conservative style with one of the most explosive QBs ever...you aren't good at your job.

Dude, has been proven

I still put blame more on the talent he's has to work with

He literally has a starting LG who was undrafted kicked around and cut from the Canadian Football league before we signed him to come in and replace Norwell

His LT he has to deal with is a Career RT coming off a major Knee injury that scared teams from even offering him as a RT this offseason causing him to sign back as peanuts

We traded up and drafted a "LT" for him to groom.  Who has been known as a HS phenom who has had motivational issues and went from top 15 grade to late 2nd early 3rd grade on some teams boards.  Draftwriters and scouts were shocked we took him so high (heck go back and find that bills draft room video, when we traded up it didnt cross their minds we were getting Little, they were convinced it was Ford)

Yeah I have been wondering about why Matsko gets the hype he does on here.  Definitely has an

 underperforming unit

It's pretty confusing.  We talk on this site about him being a great coach....I guess that's coming from the rushing side of things?  We are good at that for sure, the issue, is we have used our QB for many of those rushing yards and TD's and now it's rearing it's ugly head in the form if injuries.

However, pass pro has been an issue with this team for a LONG time.  This isn't the 80's, rushing is great, but these days passing is king, and we ain't real good at it.

Matsko is one of the only reasons the team has been serviceable at times.

Go back and look at some of the injuries, and then look at some of the contracts and players Gettleman put in key spots.

It’s been a rough stretch as far as personnel. He has held that unit together pretty nicely. Is more of a front office/talent eval issue.

He gets credited  for Norwell and Michael Oher.

The Oline looks weak and lazy. Lineman unable to move their man. Instant pressure on majority of drop backs. Every run past 5 yards is called back because of a hold.

Also players are being set up to fail. You give Paradis countless  vet days and hold him out of padded practice and team drills to then expect him to call the show against Donald?

I blame whoever is responsible for the structure and tempo of practices.

What has he proven?  That he is incapable of fielding a good offensive line?  If so, he has proven that over and over.

Dante Scarnecchia is proven...and since I brought him up, let's look at his tools, since you think that's all this is.

David Andrews:  UDFA

Joe Thuney:  3rd round.

Shaq Mason:  4th round.

Trent Brown:  7th round.  Played all 16 last season.

Marcus Cannon:  5th round.

That's called coaching, something that is sorely lacking here.  Tired of blaming this on the players at this point, and not pointing enough fingers at the coaching staff and the front office.
