Reids dirty hit on Watson

It’s OK to say he plays good football and is all over the field, and it’s also OK to say that was a dirty, stupid play. Both can be true. And Reid’s case, it is. It was a bonehead play and it cost the team 15 yards.

For sure, but when you start going into his character and saying he only cares about himself then that poster is crossing a line and pushing an agenda. They are the first ones who scream no politics in sports but then make it political by pushing said agenda.

and that should be called out every single time.

Don't care...fine him, don't fine him...I like a safety that will lay the wood.  Just have to be careful not to draw flags and hit late.  I wouldn't call it a dirty play, it was just a late hit, poo happens sometimes  Nothing has been said that he is a dirty player, never heard anything from players in the league that he is dirty.  So let's reduce the hyperbole.

You can't have that type of safety in this NFL because broke players cried foul. Reid is a dying breed.

He's a hitter but those plays can be avoided by just tapping/touching  the player to make sure he's down

It's a new age NFL they won't tolerate late hits or anything viewed as dirty

Exactly, we’re not in the age of Jack Tatum anymore. Does that suck? To me, absolutely. But he should know better than that. It seemed very personal, and when personal stuff gets in the way of the team, that’s a problem for me.

No problem with him kneeling for the anthem, or any other causes he feels close to his heart. I do have a problem with it leaking onto the field.

Fact is we don't know Reid's thought process there.  Either way, people applauding an "enforcer" type hit in the preaseason game is very wrong.  I don't think any team in the NFL should be applauding that stuff in a meaningless game.  If Reid can't control himself there, then I'm really worried what type of mistakes he's going to make when the game actually matters.

You’re right, I don’t know his thought process. But he’s been pretty vocal about how he feels. Particularly about that player. And then there’s the hit.

And then there’s a 15 yard penalty. And the team has to suffer for it.

*** you Reid haters, he was all over the field and always by the ball. He's the best piece of secondary we got.

Funny that he was in a twitter war with Watson and he takes a cheap shot at him in a game. If that’s what we have to look forward to I would rather have Colin Jones playing.

I would rather have safeties that can cover but he is a head hunter and the best safety we have had in years. I didn't like the hit but that's what you get from a thumper, big hits and penalties. I have accepted he is going to be flagged often for playing style and the fact he is in a pissing match with the league. He will still be a better safety than Boston...

And no, Colin Jones should never play another down of defense. Ever.

Let's be 100% honest here.

In all likelihood, Eric wanted to get his hands on Watson because of the Twitter stuff.  Could have done a better job at that, obviously.

On the flip side, the only reason this is even a fugging thread is because of his views.  If it was Colin Jones, you would "love his intensity."

It's time to get over it.

This: If it was any other DB on the roster, nothing more would have been said.

If Eric Reid grilled a child and had it for dinner, some of you would blame the child.

...but we all know he isn't doing anything like that because he's an American hero and American heroes don't do that kind of thing.

So.  Technically, his hit was self-serving and stupid--giving the Pats a first down that led to a TD.  We lost by a TD.  You get Ws by scoring and stopping TDs, not being all over the field.   Yes, he is a good player, and we pay him to play football as you describe.  When his agenda hurts the team, and his beef with the player was ongoing before the game, then we have a right to say something.

What agenda is hurting the team? All we have is assumptions and facts from people who assume reid is out there to hurt people and do it for attention. Did he not check on the guy after the play was over. Did he not own up to the mistake after the game? Its football.. stuff happens.
