Reids dirty hit on Watson

If you have a problem with Eric Reid then you have a problem with real, freedom loving America. SMD if you don't like it, or give this post meaningless poop emojis if it makes you feel better.

Ben Watson should go pray about it and see how much it helps.

If Reid was all about Reid, he wouldn't be taking part in a movement that's cost him a lot of time and money, and put him in the cross hairs of so many critics; he'd just be collecting a fat paycheck. You see what you want to see. I see a guy who's a thumper, something we've sorely missed in our secondary. If he wasn't part of the anthem protests, you wouldn't have even mentioned that hit.

A 'thumper' in the preaseason game???  Who needs that crap?  Especially in a game where our own QB goes out with an injury.  Some of you will generate any type of excuse imaginable to sugarcoat his blatant late hit, one he has a history of doing.

IT was 100% a late hit and he will get a fine. It's possible that it has to do with the Twitter incident but we haven't had an enforcer type in the secondary since Harper. We need that type that makes receivers afraid to go over the middle. See Kam Chancellor.

LOL. He was already airborne when the two other defenders brought Watson down. You can't pull up mid flight, but keep telling yourself it was a dirty hit. It was a late hit, and he'll be fined. It was unlucky; it doesn't say anything about his character, no matter how much some of you want it to.

I didn’t like the hit, but I never do. I always cringe at those late hits on guys that are already down, as well as when DBs hold onto players’ feet while they’re getting up and act like they’re trying to trip them.  I don’t think Reid’s hit was “dirty” per se, but it’s an annoying habit that a lot of defensive players have.

Does anybody have a good replay of the hit to know if this accurate?  This is not how I remember the hit.

Edit:  Didn't he hit him when he was already down laying on his back?  So you're telling me that Reid was already airborne for the hit when the two other defenders brought him down.  So he was airborne while Watson was up but aimed it perfectly to put a shoulder into Watsons chest/helmet when Watson would finally land on the ground from the other two players tackling him.

Why doesn't matter.  Who doesn't matter.  It was late, it deserved a flag and perhaps a fine.  Simple.  There is no place for that in the game.

If the runner was still on his feet, absolutely tag his (*# and make him regret not going down on first contact.

I agree that it was a late hit and pretty dumb but I'm kind of on the fence about it being dirty.

Players go low like that all the time when there are tackles near the first down marker. A good example is the Alonso hit on Flacco a few years back. Defenders will usually do whatever it takes to stop a players momentum in these situations and unfortunately it ends up looking like a cheap shot. I wouldn't be surprised if Reid either didn't hear the whistle or the refs were a split second too late in blowing the play dead.

If Watson was still on his way down to the ground (he had barely been on the ground at the time of the hit), that would have been a completely fair hit.

Airborne?  These dudes will make up anything.
