He definitely got rattled there. That was well blocked. Whether it’s a lack of live reps this year or being shellshocked from past experiences, I’m not sure but he needed stand tall in pocket or possibly side step a bit and make a throw. Nothing the OL can really do if he starts running around.

The play was pretty well blocked given the pressure being brought.  What really needed to happen is the WR in slot left needed to break his route and drag right across the middle about 3 yards deep.  The entire middle was voided by the blitz.  Maybe he doesn't make the 1st down, maybe it's incomplete, but at least Cam isn't holding the ball.

I'm just going to look at this as if it was a regular season game. Cam was in the pocket and as a result throwing the ball away wasn't an option. I'm also not sure if it would have been a sack if Trai would have made sure his man was out of the play for sure before moving on since it was their number 70 that was his man and the one who got the sack after falling down for a second.

He can throw the ball away sitting in the pocket, just has to throw it in the general vicinity of a eligible receiver.

I'm wondering if Cam's injury took the wind out of everybody's sails in the game last night.  The team has to know that, if Cam is gone the season is FUBARed.

Kalil chose to retire, and then changed his mind, what were the Panthers supposed to do?

I wouldn't make any judgment on Paradis until he has had at least a handful of regular season starts. He's missed a good amount of time and those were some of his first snaps with the team against one of the best defenses in the league blitzing.

I think it is a safe bet that Wade Phillips will do the same thing. If I were a coach I would assume the NE game was a dress rehearsal and it would be a good indication of where we are as a unit on the oline. I hope we run some 22 and 21 personnel sets when we play the Rams. Rusty or not, this doesn't leave a good impression to the impending season. The only reason the score was 7-0 at the half is because of penalties, a miss field goal, and a turnover, otherwise it should of been 14 or 21 to 0 at the half. We will get better, I guess I'm disappointed that we are not as far along as I had hoped with the changes on the O-line.

That’s why you play to win,.. every single time. Playing not to lose or playing soft to avoid injury just causes it.

the samurai had it in legends that those who went to battle trying not to get killed were the first to die,.. and those who had no fear of death and often fought as though it was their last were the ones who lived.

extreme, but holds true.

Damn I miss Steve Smith,.. play to win every time like its your last game.

Our Offensive line is terrible. Center and Tackle positions are lacking. It will be a long season if this is the product that this team is offering. I would like to know if we have other options at center. Depth is a major issue, the starters are not great but the falloff behind them is remarkable. Number 76 should find other transportation home, and not back to Charlotte. This is the worst Offensive line action I have seen in 10 years.

Parker Collins may end up being the best run blocker on the 2nd team. His pass blocking leaves something to be desired but in the running game he was an absolute mauler. Can't say the same for the guards.

Was he responsible for the oline protection calls? Who is leading the lines at each level? That was my beef with 76.

I'm not sure on who is calling protections. I didn't get to watch the game as closely as I liked (picking battles) so I'll have to see. Overall, it seems we were running a straight forward game once Cam went down while the Pats were sending pressure from different points of the defense.

Parker would be responsible for calling protections, if there were protections to be called, as a center but it's hard to know who's responsibility is what in preseason.

and with new personnel packages. That's my only gripe. Why not respond to what the opponent is doing regardless of preseason. You don't have to scheme. We did much better in the third quarter when we ran 21, 12, 13 personnel. I really hope that's not a long-term strategy. Later in the fourth we had to pass and it went right back to crap. Did the coaches want this type of tape to look at, to coach these guys up? It is possible I guess.

Could be wrong but i believe the first sack was on Manhertz not the oline if that matters to anyone.

Anyways I need to see more in-depth play calls and a larger sample size to fully judge the offensive line. Obviously played poor but on the bright side Mccaffrey looked terrific in pass protection.

Probably why he bulked up, knew they were gonna need him to protect Cam lol
