He definitely got rattled there. That was well blocked. Whether it’s a lack of live reps this year or being shellshocked from past experiences, I’m not sure but he needed stand tall in pocket or possibly side step a bit and make a throw. Nothing the OL can really do if he starts running around.

I honestly can’t get over the fact that he OP stated it was a non-emotional thread and he’s all up in his feelings with hot takes and over reacting all the while and not really taking any real analysis  into consideration.

Up in my feelings with hot takes? I’m old what’s a hot take? I’m not up in my feelings I own a remote and have control of my wallet. I don’t have to watch this product or contribute to the team. I’m simply trying to exercise my free speech and have a conversation about what I saw on display tonight. If you have behind the scenes information and you think the oline will be fine (especially in the depth department) that’s great! I truly hope we have a great season! I’m just saying that the oline has looked porous on TV for two weeks straight. Bill will scheme in preseason and he did so tonight, there is no doubt. Is it safe to suggest that New England played a dress rehearsal game and we did not?

I'm not going to overreact to a preseason game, but if we continue to see a lack of heart and effort into the regular season, I think, at that point, it'll be fair to ask if maybe Ron's messages with the players have gotten a little stale and are no longer having the desired effect. It happens sometimes.

If score is being kept the "season" in question should not matter.

I'm just going to look at this as if it was a regular season game. Cam was in the pocket and as a result throwing the ball away wasn't an option. I'm also not sure if it would have been a sack if Trai would have made sure his man was out of the play for sure before moving on since it was their number 70 that was his man and the one who got the sack after falling down for a second.

To me it's a combination of things. One the receivers not getting open. Cam completes his 5 step drop, no one is open. He can't go right and throw the ball away because Hightower broke free which forces Cam to cut inside then the rest of the Patriots defenders collapse on him. To me the person that should be credited with the sack is Donta Hightower. He got the best of Paradis and forced Cam to stay inside of the pocket allowing his teammates to finish the play.

What did you expect to see with 8+ in the box the entire 1st qtr bro?

gotta calm these young kids down a bit!

And  you nailed it with the first line of this post. Belichick was rushing seven or eight players on each of those blitzes. Cam's never been the fastest guy going through progressions and sending more guys than there are blockers puts it all on Cam to find the open man (there was one on each of the plays) before the extra guys make it to him. Cam almost hit CMC for that one screen that was dropped... had it been caught it would have been a touchdown. On the others, there just wasn't enough time for Cam to identify a target and throw while being on the run.

This is preseason and something like this shows us what we need to fix. The line was okay. You aren't going to see great run blocking from starters in the preseason -- the big money guys are too worried about injury to really lay the hits. The same can be said on the defensive side of the ball for the run defense.

Still, really didn't get to see much of Cam's arm. I guess we will have to wait for Week 1.

You don’t put five guys together on an offensive line and expect that  immediately it’s going to be a wall. An oline, more than any other position group, needs time to gel.

Theyve looked awful the first two times they’ve been out there together but I’m betting this group will improve with live game action. We have too many talented starters for them to be that bad.

Who is calling the blocking assignments on the oline? That used to be Khalil’s job. My gripe is not even about the first string oline, it is the play at depth with a job offer on the line that it looks that bad. I’m just talking assignment football and personnel. We ran some 13 personnel and 11 personnel, but people must know their assignments. Let me say it this way, if I’m trying to get a job on a second or third shift manufacturing floor, I would follow the tasks I am assigned to do, especially knowing I am on probation for 90 days. Some folks are not following their assignments and the video above was not my argument. It breaks down after the 1s are off the field.
