Honest Non-emotional Football response

Absolutely NE has a great defense, but to see the oline get pushed like that is hard to watch. I’m talking starters to, there were very few gaps to run through and very little time to react. That is scary for a young developing QB. You can only run so many max protect plays, and in the third quarter that’s what it took. I appreciate your response just wanted to see more from the oline, I would love to see them take it personally and play off the ball and move some bodies.

What did you expect to see with 8+ in the box the entire 1st qtr bro?

Bill isn’t a fool, and he knew we would be lining up our WRs and giving up our scheme. He knows Norv we’ll and knew it would be vanilla running plays from us witha sprinkle of timing routes which is exactly what we threw at them.

i guess it’s good to see that not much has changed around here. Complete over reaction to a pre season game that was only meant to get the starters some reps.

if there’s any cause for concern it should be the transition to the 3-4. Run defense hasn't looked that bad since we threw in the towel late last season. Even then, you had to be excited about the secondary coming up with huge tackles and attacking the ball carriers instead of waiting for them to bring the fight to them.

yall need to chill out. For real. It’s gonna be alright. We’ll add some talent after the cuts and fill out the depth chart. Our scouts put in work and already have bubble targets. We were conservative defensively and didn’t blur much at all. Don’t forget that NE has one of the more dominant o lines as well. You don’t think they have scrubs protecting their aging GOAT do you?

@Jeremy Igo looks like this place filled up with a bunch of tweeners again. I’m sure you’ve already started on one, but the article telling everyone we’re gonna be alright (pending Cam’s ankle news) might be a good start.

gotta calm these young kids down a bit!

They did blitz a lot, not that it makes it better.

I'm disappointed not in the results, but the total lack of passion.  They lack of any emotion other than indifference.

This team played with the same emotion that Rivera shows on the sidelines.

I don't even know what Im hoping for?

Yep

no anger. No violence. Zero backbone when man on man

used to be the Panthers hit teams in the mouth.  No more..,they get hit and are like, so what...I  got paid

paradis is a mess   Williams is playing out of position

i swear to god, seeing Poe standing around....upright after the opposing teams run plays is making me nuts  for the love of god , hit someone

The D was getting gashed by their run game with their starters in. Only thing that held them back was a hilarious number of penalties

Lots of missed tackles too, I’m talking tackles for loss on some of them.

Oline sucked, d looked top 5.

I'm still optimistic on the defense... it's hard not to feel deflated on the offense after these last 2 piss poor performances... preseason or not, that have been hideous

Oh I wished I was young again! 43 and feel 50 sometimes. You are spot on Bill knows Norv and we will run vanilla plays. However, if your trying to get a job and you are on the second or third team, you don’t want to see the tape. I’m not a sky is falling guy, but I really did not want to see our team play like that against “the world champs”. That does not get the fan base stoked about the upcoming season, then sprinkle in your 100M QB in a walking boot, and it can be concerning. Again, I hate calling anyone out and I regret throwing the number up before, but guys were losing one on one battles even when they were rushing four. There were positives so your right, but two weeks in a row and your potential job on the line, QB in boot.......... I digress.......

You’re completely over reacting to the entire game. When the starters were IN, they were loading the box with 8+ and we ran right into it. CMCwas still getting 3 yards on most occasions.

Want to be concerned, be concerned about the switch to the 3-4, because our defense looked confused some of the time. The starters looked confused up front. We will get better and progress as the season goes, but we will need the offense to carry us the first couple of weeks. If they can’t we’ll find ourselves digging out of an early self induced hole.

Ron’s presser: he should be saying he’s concerned about our o-line. In reality though, he’s not. He’s just taking the spotlight off of the real issue which is the d-line and missing stunts and not filling gaps.

I cant talk football with you. You’re having a hard time being objective and seeing the bigger picture. You’re just seeing he here and now, which tells me that you must not have been a fan for very long or you don’t understand the long game and that’s what Ron plays for.

I honestly can’t get over the fact that he OP stated it was a non-emotional thread and he’s all up in his feelings with hot takes and over reacting all the while and not really taking any real analysis  into consideration.

Yep OK I am trying to keep emotions out. I’ve watched 30years of football. My reaction actually start after Newton left. You knew NE would blitz and how many dog blitzes did Sean send last week? If your trying to make the team it is not a good showing on the oline. If I am wrong that’s fine to, maybe you saw the game differently than I did, but what I saw had to do with individual battles, not scheme or results. Guys were losing battles and getting pushed off the line. I will go back and watch again to see if it was the 2 versus 3s or 1 versus 2s, etc. I will say this, the NFL changes every year and that includes preseason. This game used to have importance for full season prep. If LUUUKE is the man then I apologize and maybe you know more than I. I’m just disappointed in the individual efforts on the line.

I was listening to the radio broadcast post game show on the way from work and they had Mike Tolbert talking on it. I think what he said has been pretty spot on these last two preseason games. He said that he just didn't see that intensity or fire from the team like in previous seasons. He used Palardy as an example of this. He said that in previous seasons if a punter ran over and made a TD saving tackle the team would be all over him congratulating him or complimenting him on a good play. This time when that happened, nobody did anything for him. The team just doesn't have that fire and intensity that it normally has. The leaders of this team, both players and coaches, need to step up and take care of this before the season starts. To be honest this is one area where losing Thomas Davis hurts us. He always was that guy that could light a fire under guys asses and get them going. I know I see Greg showing a lot of emotion and intensity on the side line most of the time it shows him but one man cannot do it alone. He needs some of the other guys to step up and fill those leadership voids.

For many years I used the "Its pre-season". This is the worst back-to-back performance since 2010 nightmare.

The GIANT issue is the 1 vs 1 battles, nearly ALL panthers not named Love, Slye, Burns, and Scarlett are losing the battle. WRs are getting covered, OL getting pushed around, DBs are 8 yards away when the ball is caught, LBs missing the tackles, ST looks like only 9 on the field, etc etc.

Just bad football and bad looking too. Even for "pre-season"....

I'm not going to overreact to a preseason game, but if we continue to see a lack of heart and effort into the regular season, I think, at that point, it'll be fair to ask if maybe Ron's messages with the players have gotten a little stale and are no longer having the desired effect. It happens sometimes.

I’ve been a Panther fan for 25 years, I was a Redskin fan before that due to the area, watching the Bostic boys. I grew up playing football and played in high school, again if you know the scheme then that’s different. What I saw on tv looked bad, and it was the individual battles not the overloads or blitz schemes.
