Sure. But he’s not a starter.

Yeah I’ll be there. 134 row 5. Got a room in Foxborough so I dont have to do that drive back to the city so late.

Nice the city is a pain in the ass... Any idea on plans pregame? I was able to get off work pretty early tomorrow for this one. Been talking with some of the beantown riot folks a bit but still waiting to hear their plans. I’m in section 130

There were only 3 things I would have done differently. I would have waited Little at 47 and since the Bills needed a RT and Denver only needed a guard, they weren’t going after Little. I’m not a guy who really liked Little but if the team liked him that much, we needed a LT. Having pick 77, we could have taken Davis or Dieter at G and I would be sleeping a lot better than worrying about Van Roten who was legitimately awful.

I didn’t like the Grier pick either and there were some safeties and RBs available.

I say RBs because I would have jumped on Omenihu in the 5th. He’s a legitimate 3-4 DE/4-3 DE guy who I think will end up being a steal down the road. Considering the giant cap hit on Short and Poe next year and McCoy on a 1 year deal, we needed DL. Our first round pick next year is a virtual guarantee at DL

I so badly wanted to take Max Scharping in the 2nd & Michael Dieter in the 3rd. I felt some type of way when MIA took him with our pick that we traded to them for Little and HOU took Scharping shortly after. I wanted Bryce Love too to spell CMC, but Scarlett and CAP look like they'll be able to at the least carry the rock if something happens.

The regular season needs to be here NOW dammit -_-

If you're in a position where you're expecting a couple 4th round picks to start, you are probably screwed.

First rounder, you basically expect him to start or at least be a major part of what you're doing on that side of the ball.

2nd rounder, if you get an immediate starter...cool. But you go in with the expectation that this will probably be more of a developmental player who will be a starter in the near future and will work to get involved heavily in the present.

The further down you go, the less likely it is that they will be a starter. This is the way it should be and is for the vast majority of teams. You get a good immediate starter from the later rounds?you got lucky.

Where we were picking.  Your more likely to find a starter at that spot in the 2nd vs a development guy

2018

35. Nick Chubb- starter

36. Darius Leonard- NFL DROY

37. Braden Smith- Starter

38. Ronald Jones

39. James Daniels- starter

40. Courtland Sutton- starter

2017

35. Malik McDowell- off field injury derailed

36. Budda Baker- Starter/probowl

37. Zay Jones- started 10 of 15 games

38. Forrest Lamp- missed with torn ACL

39. Marcus Maye- starter

2016

35. Hunter Henry- starter

36. myles Jack- starter

37. Chris Jones- Starter

38. Xavien Howard- starter/knee injuries missed games

39. Noah Spence- development

Where we traded up to in the 2nd at 37 your most likely to find a immediate starters.  In the last 3 drafts, in the 5 or so surrounding picks to 37 all but 4 were starter/impact guys.  And of the 4 that weren't missed the season with injury

Why are we using some arbitrary metric like “Starters” to gauge the quality of a draft? Hey, Greg Van Roten is a starter...is he a good player? Texans signed a “starting” LT in Matt Kalil...did they have a successful offseason then? Starting rookies can be just as much a sign of desperation as it is a sign of a good draft.

I agree with the crowd that says theyre only rookies in their first preseason wait.

But............. man, loved the Burns pick but never liked Little.  Hated the trade up.  He's a good kid and hope he turns out, but sucks we wasted those 2 picks on a project when.......... the guy I was lobbying for who went 4 picks afte, has looked to have already become the best OL on Denvers starting lineup in Dalton Risner.  Some Broncos fans already claiming he's a future probowler.

And with GVR graded out as one of the worst starting interior OL in the league last year.

Wouldve been nice to grab Risner instead of guy who wont even see the field this year.

Chase Winovich, the guy who was picked at our 3rd pick.  Was a guy several of us said we should strongly consider in the 2nd, in the 3rd take it and run.  He has been probably the most impressive rookie in the entire NFL thus far.

And wouldve had of locked as one of the best edge duos in the NFL for the next 4 years

Also on top.  While we've had a Glaring hole at Safety.  This was said to be a deep safety class.  Had we packaged our 3rds, it wouldve put around where Juan Thornhill was picked.  Thornhill has been the most impressive defensive play on the Chiefs roster in camp, has already locked down the starter job and led them in ints in camp.

We had options, it looks now Hurney pulled a Hurney 1.0 crushing the 1st and missed on 2nd-3rd.  But its still esrly

Read my mind on the wants. Wanted all those guys ahead of Little.

We just have to hope he slowly comes along.

Will Grier was a bad pick. If Cam is hurt again we pick at the top/middle of the draft next year and likely taking a QB with the teams first pick.

What would be the point of Grier?

I know and just said it's still early, but I wasn't a fan of the grier pick, even though I saw it coming. thought people more just liked the idea of the guy and just liked the guy (heard he interviewed really well) but I thought that people were trying really hard to justify and sell people on him and thought more of his skillset that is  actually there. he's going to be a hard sell for me, but the rest of the draft I liked or at least feel ok with.

Not really... They were going to take the lead on those plans. I'm going on the field so I have to be in earlier than I usually am. But I'll be in the area around 4p so I'll have time to meet up.

The Panthers had to take a shot at a legit left tackle at some point. It's been too long. If Little doesn't work out they'll have to do it again and again.

Left tackles are similar to quarterbacks as they're difficult to find, and almost never hit free agency if they're any good.

Wow, someone else who wants to base a guy’s career off of a couple preseason games.. imagine that.

Just FYI, we had some guy named Kalil who was our starting LT last year... and he sucked. You could put Little there and it’s an upgrade.

True but that is also not a glowing review for the kid.

I am not a big believer in Little or Grier but it's way, way, way, way too early to be jumping off a cliff over them.

The OP was two sentences and one of them was "I'm not calling them busts just yet". Shoutout to those of you who read them both. Good lord.

I should have chosen better wording though. By starter I really meant that caliber of player, not necessarily their initial spot on the depth chart. CMC and Samuel weren't slotted in immediately but that was just Ron being conservative as usual with rookies. Both and perhaps Moton even were capable plug-and-play talents from day 1. Clearly it's still early but all indication so far is that Burns is the only one in this class on that level. Thought that was funny due to Hurney's reputation for nailing the first pick and the rest being crapshoots.

We're a good team but not so good that we can afford for everyone short of Burns in this class to just be "depth". I don't it expect it to remain that way but if it does it was a bad draft.

Got it. I’m waiting to hear on their plans still but took a half day today and will probably head down pretty early anyways so if you’re around and wanna grab a beer or something before the whole gang gets there let me know.
