6. Carolina Panthers

I love what they have done this offseason to fortify the OL and pass rush. Cam Newton looked great at camp when I was there. Plenty of speed upgrades across the board.

Getting some love from Jason La Canfora. He attended a training camp practice.

Trying not to let biases pop up, but it becomes clear that writers that actually are following teams aren't nearly as down on the Panthers as the general national media.

Bleacher Report had a power rankings.  The Panthers were like 14th..but second out of all NFC S teams, for example.  I am not saying the Panthers are superbowl bound or anything, only that there definitely seems to be a group of writers/experts/whatever giving a nod to the team.

Should also be noted, BR did not drop the Panthers in the "pre season power rankings" due to the preseason game 2.  For some reason they were able to realize what happened in the game, how major key pieces were missing.

All this poo written and literally none of it is relevant.  Draft anyone, sign anyone, upgrade anything.  Doesn't matter.  This team goes the way Cam goes.  We get a healthy effective Cam for the season then we're playoff bound where anything can happen.  Cam struggles with health again then it's gonna be another frustrating year.

I really do not see why anyone cares what is written.  I used to work at the Charlotte Observer (Sports) as an intern of sorts when I was in grad school.  They are not in the prediction business--they focus on reporting events. It takes a different skill set to analyze talent etc. than it takes to take a game or series and tell the story concisely.  They do it to sell papers or get clicks.  That is it.  They may sprinkle some facts on the BS, but that is all it is.

Probably the ones who have actually paid attention to us this offseason, and visited camp to actually see how Cam is performing.

Yea that’s become the narrative, but the truth is that we were losing games last year when Cam was playing well enough to win them. He shouldn’t have to be Superman for us to win games, but sadly that’s been the case under Ron.

Cam is struggling with he 25 yard post corner and out pattern throws where he has to put some heat on the ball.  Let's hope his shoulder continues to strengthen but don't expect to see 2015 Cam Newton on week 1.

we won't win 8 games much less win it all. unless our o line improves by leaps and bounds we don't have a chance.

Interesting take... so our absolute ceiling is equaling our record from last year when we had a one-armed Cam for half the year, an O-line that was objectively worse, and Samuel and Moore mostly riding the bench when Cam was actually healthy?
