A waiver indemnifies a person(corporation) from legal recourse. However, when the law dictates otherwise. If it’s an action against the law. It voids the waiver.

Law > Waiver.

You can’t be a drug dealer and say hey sign this waiver. “Here’s 100 tons of coke now go deal it. You’re under waiver it’s all good.”

There is no federal or state law that says the NFL have to update their helmets or his helmet isn't safe. And I'm sure AB isn't trafficking cocaine in his type of helmets. Dear god some of you people are retarded. Next I guess people are going to bring up seatbelt laws and automatic weapons bans to provide a reasonable response.

That's a slippery slope.  The NFL has a certain obligation to protect players from serious injury and a waiver would not absolve them in my opinion.

A waiver would do exactly that. Just like a horse rancher knows that inherently a horse can kill you and that's why you sign a waiver. Same reason kids sign a waiver to play peewee football and so on. The NFL gave him the opportunity to use what they saw as a more safe helmet. He disagreed and chose to use his own. My question is what happens if AB gets a concussion with the new helmet without being given the choice to pick his old helmet. Now he has the right to sue because he was forced to use a certain type of helmet.

OSHA has the last word in anything that deals with safety on anything and if it does not meet within their safety standards required it cannot be used at all. AB cannot wear what he feels like either.

or, this is the most popular hard knocks in years and the raiders are getting all the free pub in the world, and he got out of training camp.   this has been a win/win/win for everyone involved and given the behavior police plenty of things to squawk about before the regular season starts.   its hilarious how many people take the bait and get their panties all wadded up - and the conversation is completely off cte.

OSHA doesn't regulate the NFL or any sports dumbass. ABs helmet also passed OSHA standards at the factory level. Saying his helmet is less safe than a hard hat is a dumbass statement anyway. 2000 football helmets are at a higher standard than a hard hat.

It has nothing to do with regulation. It is entirely up to the law as written in the United States. OSHA still applies to the NFL, because the NFL is a workplace and an employer. This is simple stuff dude.

Sorry Snake...but you have been wrong throughout this thread.  Harbinger is correct in his comments.  And OSHA absolutely does habevautgority over safety in the nfl just like all other companies.

Wrong,

Questions: First, does OSHA have jurisdiction to regulate the safety of professional baseball players as well as spectators at major league games?

Second, if OSHA has jurisdiction, in light of a recent surge in shattering bats that send wood fragments out in an explosive manner, can the Agency press professional baseball to change back to sturdier wooden bats or to metal bats?

Answer: The answer to the first question, whether OSHA has authority to protect baseball players, umpires and others at work at their place of employment depends on whether these individuals meet the definition of "employee" under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act). OSHA has no specific [applicable] standards that address protection for professional athletes playing in games.

That's from the official OSHA site for all you "know it all's".

Thanks for playing.

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
