PFF - Cam sucks, Panthers more likely to finish last in NFCS

Looks like there's a lot of doubt of cam and the Panthers, part of its justified because we haven't won any playoff games 3 years straight after 2015 was over and had 2 losing seasons and 1 winning season where we got 3x swept by the Saints and a wild card exit.

Only thing Cam can really do is prove them wrong by staying healthy and putting up numbers and wins and a playoff run.

Fair enough, yet neither have the Falcons, and the Bucs have sucked for a decade plus outside of 1 year.

Just BS when they focus on the most optimistic scenarios for the other teams in the division and the absolute worst for the Panthers.

Their hate for Cam is evident and spills over to the rest of the team.

It really does seem like b/c all their metrics "proved" Carson Palmer was the MVP in 2015, they are going to rectify that by sh*tting on the Panthers, especially Cam, every chance possible

PFF is just another stat. Liked them much better before they made the big time. They had a disclaimer on their site back then that they were just another tool in the toolkit to evaluate players and, if a PFF grade disagreed with the eye test, to trust your eyes.

Back then, they may have given the panthers an incomplete for this year because they have no idea how he'll be after the surgery. That was another of their disclaimers- they could watch every play & give you a grade for each player, but they had no way to  account for injury or scheme.

Cam looked below average to end last season, so I can understand.  But, this team is more than just Cam.  The biggest problem was offensive line last year and if that looks better, then the whole offense is going to look better.  Hopefully, refs will do more to protect Cam as well since they've turned a blind eye a lot in the past.  Defense has to keep the team in games and that's going to be something to watch for as well.

Objectively Cam Newton is a better QB than Mariota or Winston.

It can not be argued unless done in a devil's advocate/compulsive contrarian sort of way.  No honest observer can look at those 3 QBs and pick anyone other than Cam as the #1.  Its bad faith and not worth the time and serves only to scratch that itch for the liar that made this trash.

...oops, sorry kinda blacked out for sec.

Troll rankings for views, that’s why I’m not watching that BS.

That’s how it is now. Integrity has been sacrificed for clicks and views. I don’t know what it is about Cam (even though I have an idea) but he is the express lane for hot takes and low hanging fruit for QBs. Reggie Bush and MeAngelo Williams are both trying to break in to the industry and their go to get some exposure move was to criticize Cam.

Chris Collinsworth invested big money in them and they are are affiliated with main stream media now. Basically sell outs.

When PFF was propping up our 2019 draft class, they were the standard for football analysis. Now, they know nothing again. That seems about right for around here..

It's less a reflection of that, and more just an indication of how polarizing Cam Newton still is in the sports media world even to this day.

If they predict the Panthers will struggle that's one thing, but to notch both Mariota and Winston above Newton is just attention seeking.

I don’t know about any of that, either way. But I do know the only credible sources posted on here are the ones that tell folks what they WANT to hear, not anything to do with the truth.

    • I don't really like the phrase, "moral victory". I get what's meant by it, but does that mean that if you do the opposite (play poorly but win) it's an immoral victory? 🤔
    • I blame Evero because he is overrated. Vance Joseph created the defense in Denver that he took credit for. Wilks ran the ball down his throat and Darnold had a 103.8 rtg.  Last year we were decent in yards allowed, and horrible in everything else. Only reason? We kept giving up good field position.  He's had his choice of players to bring in since his scheme is so "complicated." Maybe he should stop trying to be so fancy like running Cover 4 on 3rd and 1 earlier and focus on fundamentals like tackling. These years of Eric Washington, Phil Snow, and Evero must have gotten you confused on what a real defense looked like. Go back and watch the McDermott and Wilks years- this dude is sofT.
    • I tried to make it a point in the opening post that I don't think the offense is a finished product. I think we still need more talent at WR, better play calling, catch more consistently, elimate ridiculous penalties,  and be more consistency in scoring points. I'm just saying, they look markedly better than last year imo. They have scored 20 or more in 6 games and 30 or more in 2 games. And that's particularly notable considering they only mustered 10 points and 3 points in first 2 games of this year and they got blanked on 0 points two games in a row to wrap up last season . I'd say that's a market improvement.  I'm not crowning them and saying we have a top 10 offense or anything.  I'm comparing them to themselves in recent history.
