should we talk about how grier looks like trash against vanilla 2nd string defenses

In Cam’s Rookie year he started all 4 preseason games. He only threw 1 TD. His completion percentage was 42%. And his QBR was 64.

Through 2 games Grier has thrown 1 TD, his completion percentage is over 50%, and his QBR is in the 50’s

Cam was QB1, playing with our 1s

Grier is QB3 playing with 3s

relax and give it time

I’m pretty sure he didn’t start all four preseason games.

The biggest difference is that Cam actually looked like an NFL caliber QB even when he struggled. Grier looks like a practice squad player. Anything beyond 10 yards was not getting completed. QB struggle especially young ones but at least show that you are an NFL caliber player.

Cam also made plays with his legs and threw 0 INT. Grier has thrown 2 INT, 1 being a pick 6. If the regular season started and Grier was the starter, Grier wouldn't be able to put up numbers Cam did. Not even with SS, Olsen, Shockey... He can't even complete a pass 20+ yards. There's no comparison right now.

Amusing that we already have people creating accounts just to show up and defend Grier's performance.

Let's just get down to brass tacks. Will is a rookie. The only thing that matters right now after an atrocious outing like that is how he bounces back. But he absolutely has to display better pocket tendencies. He looked incredibly uncomfortable back there in both starts.

This pick will be looked at similar to the Armanti Edwards selection.  At least we didn’t give up picks for him too.

As awful as that pick was at least Edwards made an actual play in an actual regular season game once.  Grier reminds me of Tony Pike-  put up video game numbers in a conference where defense is purely optional and just doesn't look like he belongs in the NFL.

We should have just signed Joe Webb back for what ever he wanted. Still would have paid less then we are paying backups right now.

Lol so we’ve reached the “defending Armanti Edwards” level already

Few fans even really knew who Armanti Edwards was when we drafted him.

On the other hand at least half this fanbase was clamoring for Will Grier before his name was even called on draft night.

Let's hope it isn't another story of more of the same draft horrors for the Panthers.

That’s an outright lie. Once again you change the past to fit your narrative. Maybe you weren’t here then. There was a handful of threads made about how Armanti needed to be a Panther and how we’d regret it forever if we didn’t get him. Gantt wrote columns about him repeatedly. He was the talk of local TV.

Hell not only did they know him, some  people on here wanted him to start at QB in 2010. Additionally, Edwards was drafted with a high third-round pick after trading a second-round pick. He single-handedly cost us  his second preseason game too. Look it up if you weren’t a fan then.

Comparing a guy who was picked in the high third after trading a second for the pick is scarcely comparable to a guy picked in the compensatory section of the third round. But you do you homie

Most of that was from a few resident App State homers that used to post here. They've been gone for years. Don't be overdramatic.

lol @ trying to pull someone's fan card because you're mad your favorite draft pick played poorly. He's a rookie, either he'll bounce back or it's back to the drawing board like Cleveland.
