One concerning note after hearing the Bills slant from joint practice

What's weird is that we have more at home than away...I didn't look all that closely, but I'd be a little surprised if that was the case for many teams in the NFL.

Either way, it's a MAJOR issue IMO.

It's one thing when you have a young or not so good QB, it's another entirely when you have a very good vet QB.

We all know what this really is though.  Ron wanting to slow the game down to a crawl to limit mistakes.

But at the same time, doing that to the extent that we have it works as a disadvantage

1. Puts more pressure on the OL, allowing DL's to pinback and time the rush with the clock

2. Helps the defense with lack of hard counts drawing offsides, letting the QB to look at the D and make adjustments.  Its just a cluster fug disaster

This came up on All or Nothing too. Funchess flipped out on I think Scott Turner if I remember correctly for not getting the play call in in a timely manner during practice. He got pissed that he was just standing around wasting time waiting for a play call.

It’s a comms issue, more times than not.

The tempo just needs to be better. Cam needs to hustle a bit more. Norv and Scott need to quit dicking around. This was honestly a bigger issue with Shula and Dorsey.

I think the plan ultimately would be for Scott to become the OC and relay those plays in directly. I’ve never been a fan of having multiple chains of communication in getting play to a quarterback’s ear.

Or maybe Norv will coach until he is 90.

Well, I mean...you can't have it both ways.  We can either be outdated and slow, or get into the 2000's and give our QB time at the line to breakdown the defense.

It really is mind boggling IMO, but Ron gonna Ron.  The guy is sooooo convinced that antique football is the way to win in a 21's century league.

When Cam scores a TD on the opening drive tomorrow night, this thread will be forgotten.

You guys overreact over every little thing.

Overreacting would be if it happened a couple times during a particular season.

This has been going on for a while now, and anyone that knows football knows it's an easy fix.

Pointing out how well Buffalo’s secondary covered is hardly an overreaction. I don’t think it’s worth needling over pre-snap whistles and procedure issues in that setting. That’s where lot of those kinks are getting worked out. But WRs and DBs: They were competing at full speed. I know it’s not a game, but that element of practice was as close to a game is anything else.

Buffalo’s offense of line was getting mauled pretty badly as well. I didn’t see that from their report. Maybe I just missed it.

If you're standing around waiting on the play call to come in, what else are you gonna do? If it was on Cam, then when Cam was out it would be expected for this to not be an issue. That hasn't been the case.

At the end of the day, Ron is a defensive minded head coach. I honestly think he wants the offense to run slow to give his D a rest.

So, have the offense set by 15 seconds, burn another 10-12 seconds with window dressing or hard count. Snap early in the count often enough to keep the defense on it's heels.

One of my favorite under rated plays for the Falcons was a few years ago in a no huddle, 2 minute situation, there was a deep pass completed, and all 5 OLinemen ran together as one and set up for the next play. It was fun. Don't get to see it happening often on TV because what the OLine does isn't as exciting as QB/WRs/Commentators.
