Dude... There hasn't been a relevant "Rock" headliner at the Super Bowl since U2 in 2002.

All other rock performances have been older bands brought on because they are easily digestible to a mass audience like The who, Paul McCartney, the rolling stones, etc.. Over the past decade we haven't seen the Foo fighters, Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, A7X, etc. etc. It's been a showcase for popular music that casts the widest net for years.

Rolling Stones current U.S. stadium tour --- every one of them sold-slam-out.

Never seen an irrelevant band do that.

Correction:  Those were the original dates published before Mick fell ill.  Current dates below...

Fans feared that the shows wouldn’t happen until 2020, but just two weeks after the surgery, Jagger was back on his feet and seeing his girlfriend, ballerina Melanie Hamrick, perform in New York City. “He’s doing wonderful,” Hamrick told the press. “That’s all I’m saying, but wonderful.” On Wednesday, Jagger posted a video on of him dancing to “Techno Fan” by the Wombats on his Instagram. There was no caption, but the message was obvious: Jagger was back and ready to perform again.

Fans unable to attend the rescheduled dates can access their Ticketmaster account for a full refund.

By relevant I mean current band making new music. These old dudes go on tour and make big bucks playing their classics. Good for them. I've been to a few of these concerts before (Billy Joel, rolling stones, Van Halen, etc.). They don't do anything new though, and they aren't relevant to the current charting music.

That's why they got Katy Perry to do the halftime show a few years back and also why her performance was the most viewed of all time. Didn't mean it was the best, just that it appealed to the most people. It's a safe play by the NFL to cast a wide net and get the most viewers.

Disagree on what's considered relevant.

Agree with your last statement.  Stones cast a lot wider net than Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, A7X, etc. etc.

Will be interesting to see what kind of talent Jay-Z lines up.

Sorry gramps but David Allen Coe isn’t allowed to perform in civilized venues.

Crossing my fingers for a Tool Halftime show - what with the new album and everything.

I know it will never happen, but I can dream.

I wish the answer was no one, but considering the Super Bowl is the biggest television event of the year, the reality is that a good many of the viewers are probably casual fans at most and are primarily tuning in for the spectacle more so than the actual game

The only thing that makes me think they would even consider something like this is they are obviously in retirement mode with them now putting everything up for streaming. $$$$$$ this is their last album for sure. Danny is 60 years old.

Tool performing Super Bowl halftime would have 3/4th’s of america be like “wtf was that”
