The narrative that Butler can be "useful" despite his high draft pick status is a bit asinine. 

 

Especially given that he has had some really good talent around him. Star wasn't a stat sheet guy but he was always there, why? Because of the double teams he demanded and the pressure he applied which in turn made other players better and flourish. I don't see that with Butler. I've never seen him command anything. 

Also at the time of I remember correctly. Gman made the pick basses on the fact that KK was still not signed. Maybe a contingency plan?

 

Bad draft pick doesn't equal bad player. If he turns out to be a quality rotational guy, re-sign him for as much, but not more.

The flaw in your train of thought here is that you believe, for whatever reason, Butler is a Quality Rotational guy. He clearly isn't even that.

I had a qualifier in there. We changed defenses, thus I can qualify with an "if". Going to need good rotational guys on the line in this line up.

Butler had just 7 snaps in the Buf game. Second lowest on defense. Writing on the wall?

It should be. With the lack of effort in the CHI game, he should have been cut that  next day. Maybe a couple more articles about how he’s not that bad will help.
