In 2019 you are able to get a better view and picture on your tv, better audio, multiple camera angles, fantasy updates, food delivered from any where, and it costs less than 2 games for 2 tickets during the regular season (depending on the market and game). The next generation is so use to instant gratification, instant access, they know that the only reason people go to games now is for the experience of being with 72,000 fans at once. Sooner rather than later they have to differentiate themselves, rather that comes in live bets (nba, nhl), fans experience (comfort, WiFi, price, food, etc), or access they can’t get from home. 

I also knew about the surveys and those zones as I got an email for them and answered them. Honestly I thought of that as more of a gauge of what the fan will spend vs what he wants in the current stadium. I can’t see tepper addison standing zones, beer zones etc in the upper deck and eliminating those “25 year anniversary PSL’s” for only 3-4 years. They wouldn’t be selling those psl right now for dirt cheap if they were  going to destroy those seats

I paid a decent amount for tickets for the Thursday night game for my girlfriend and myself, but I also realize that I could have easily upgraded my home theatre system for the same price and had the comfort my home. 

I think a bigger reason why less people are going is more the price of tickets vs the experience at home.  My seats were $64 just about five or six years ago, are now $110-$123 a game.  I used to always buy extra's and stopped, and know many people who use to go and stopped cause of the price of tickets.  We can go back and forth in what might entice people to now drop for two people $250+ now vs what they used to be comfortable and fine paying $125 for in the past.   For a family of four, forget about it.... cost $500.  (And I am talking upstairs).  Also not sure there is a market to do the PSL thing again.  We will see for sure.  I do have a vested interest in that I've owned PSLs since 2002, LOVE my seats and do not want to lose them in a new place.  

I didn't get either how they would be able to eliminate seats for the party deck.

I do not want a new stadium at all, but if one got built ... if I was given the first right to buy season tickets in the same seats I have now (ie if I have front row 30 yard line now, I got the option to buy the season tickets for those same seats before anyone else and no PSL).. that is the only way I would be mostly ok with getting a new stadium.   I would think for there to be no PSL thing again the place would have to be build with Tepper and Gov money.

Yeah that is about the only way.  But cant see Tepper forgoing that PSL money that is a huge chunk of money. Upper level would be $3000 to $4000 a seat

Charlotte in 1995 and Charlotte in 2025 will be completely different cities with completely different population.  60 new families relocate to Charlotte every day.  Let that sink in.  With multiple businesses with average salaries well in $100k moving to city there will be insane demand for season tickets with or without current season ticket holders.  Currently all the best PSL seats belong to original owners... when new dome is built... those top spots will be owned by big corporations who will pay x10 more per seat.

The idea of lifelong-stadium life PSLs is pretty dumb anyway in my opinion.  They should have sold them at like a 10-20 year commitment, so people don't get all up in arms when they feel like they have a right to something that was never promised.  It's not like a PSL is a stock investment or something.

@iBBB is right. Charlotte Pipe's land is weird to put a whole stadium on. It's conceivable that Tepper could buy up the land on the other side of 277 to build the new stadium, as it'd fit there. But the Pipe Shop land would be used for parking and fan experiences I think. 

As for the railroad, I work for that railroad and I can assure you that there are no plans to move those tracks. That's our main NYC-NOLA artery. Lowering the rail is not an option either. The landscape right there doesn't lend itself to burying the rail in a tunnel, especially considering we have a junction with another major railroad and our yard literally a mile north of there. A mile is not far in railroad terms, FYI.

The HSR is actually a different story. Notice that freshly tilled ground and concrete structure south of the Pipe Shop? That's the new Amtrak servicing facility. It's completed, but hasnt been tied into our mainline yet. The city is building a new transit hub just north of the stadium that will combine Amtrak, light rail, city bus, Greyhound, and taxi services. There is already commuter rail service between Charlotte and Raleigh, but it's top speed on Norfolk Southern's trackage is only 80mph. True HSR is terribly expensive, but improving the right of way so that the commuter trains could reach 100 or even 120mph is within the realm of possibility. If this happens, the team could try to justify similar service between Charlotte and Greenville, SC and Charlotte and Columbia. I'm getting onto a different topic now, but that could trigger a rail boom in the region connecting the major cities, and as a railway worker, that would excite me.

I think the land on the other side of 277 is Charlotte Pipe as well.  When I did a street view in Google, most of the buildings and warehouses were Charlotte Pipe.  I'm not sure about the grass fields, but if they are also owned by Charlotte Pipe and Foundry (or even just available for the right price), then there is more than enough land to build a new stadium with parking.

We will see and time will tell.  Maybe enough demand from corporations to pull it off... but people moving here are not buying season tickets.  They are not Panther fans and most likely never will be.  It will be the same as it is now, all the people who move here just go and buy tickets when it's their favorite team from where they moved from come here for a road game.  It would take another generation for maybe their kids to be fans.

The current state of the PSL resale market is the complete opposite of what you are describing here.  From what I hear people can't sell them at any price.

The only reason I can think of is for the potential option to buy the new psl for a discount or for the potential for the guaranteed location like front row or 50 yard line. I know many scalpers who would pay $ to have guaranteed access to certain psls.  Problem is there are no guarantees in place.

It’s because people have realized the PSL is a rip off and stupid investment in terms of money return. Especially with a stadium coming in 3-4 years

I bet if you asked most PSL owners they are pissed they can’t sell their PSL and get back their return etc. it was pitched as an investment and something you can make money off of, and hell even look at this post a few pages back where someone was bitching they can’t get their money back they spent, 

but I agree it’s a money dump and gives you no advantage other than first dibs on certain seats

I'm a PSL owner and I guess I will be annoyed if we have a new stadium and my PSLs are erased. Any significant new "investment" will not be from me. I would love if PSLs are transferred over.

But it was never pitched as an investment to me or anyone I know.
