In which Tepper could not be more different than Richardson

Richardson was good early on (although I suspect he has always been a racist), but he clearly lost it after his heart transplant.  I am grateful for his vision and work in getting a team (which was much harder in 1993 for Charlotte than it would be now when this area was much smaller).

That being said, he did set up a culture of reverence that bordered on a plantation owner's mentality with players, coaches, and ultimately the fans.

Even though I was wary about the new ownership, I certainly was ready to turn the page on Richardson.  Tepper was the right man to truly bring this team into the 21st century and make the right decisions (and spend the accompanying money) to make sure there is no reason this team cannot bring a Lombardi to the Carolinas.

Based on what?  Speculation and accusations that were never proven in a courtroom?  The media had it out for Richardson in the later years, they were ready for a change (as well as some of the fan base) and dogged him every chance they got.  I'm sure they were absolutely giddy when the accusations first surfaced.  People talk about the justice system and innocent until proven guilty.  I find it ironic that's only if it fits the narrative someone is trying to impose onto others.  You are guilty in the court of public opinion the moment the media puts at hit piece out on you, justified or not, especially if the means justify the end.  Many of you could care less if the accusations were bogus or not, you got the desired change you wanted.

Yeah the accuser and those creepy notes that were obviously his handwriting.  All made up, all fake.  Log out and get back to Fox News.

A legal handwriting expert?  Look, I'm not sure if Richardson did these thing or not, but the utter vile spewed towards him is a bit over the top with a handful of you.  Let's assume he was guilty of sexual harassment for the moment.  Does the punishment in public opinion fit the alleged crime, because he was not tried and found guilty?  If someone who did not know who he was read some of these posts, you'd think he was Jack the Ripper reincarnated.  At worst he was an old man that had a workplace crush on an employee and probably wasn't completely up to speed on modern sexual harassment laws. If that was the case, then yes, he broke the law because any unwanted advance constitutes harassment.  Now I got a question, how many people on this board could have been reprimanded or fired for saying something that could even be construed as harassment at their job?  Probably the bulk of this board.  Don't try to play a Boy Scout now...I've read many posts here that would make a porn star blush. By the way some posters portray him,  you'd think he was a serial rapist of Jeffery Epstein caliber.  A flawed man, we all are,  but not the monster of a human being he's made out to be by some of you.

You got the change you wanted....it's time to move on.  I doubt it will happen though because beating a dead horse is a hobby for a few of you especially when it comes to promoting your ideological views whenever an opportunity presents itself.

that's really not the 'at worst'.  he did it over time with multiple nda's.  he made some people's life hell.  he's not jack the ripper, but neither is he a 1 off old man with a crush.   ffs.  he's dead.  he doesn't need anyone to defend him.

Another case of the grass is always greener. I'm sure Richardson was utterly clueless about his team and could really have cared less.  Typical with today's crowd, revisionist history based what their biases are.  Again, the hate for Richardson runs very deep on this board and it's not remotely watered down.  The man had his flaws, but the chance for a pot shot is never missed when the opportunity presents itself.  If some of you have a  man-crush on Tepper, GREAT, but consistently trolling Richardson as means of comparison is getting tiresome.

Tepper will almost assuredly make some mistake in his personal/professional life while the owner of this team or at the very least, make an extremely unpopular move with the fan base.  I just wonder if the vitriol and utter contempt will be the same?  It's a rhetorical question, I already know the answer.

yes, i imagine if tepper calls an assistant the n-word people will treat him with contempt, as unjust as you obviously find that

Like I said before, Tepper is the best thing to ever happen to the Panthers. He makes himself available to the fans AND the media, he interacts with the players and coaches, he’s giving the team what it needs to be competitive.

and maybe most importantly, he doesn’t give 2 f’s about what anyone thinks if he decides to sign someone like Reid.

I loved on the episode of all or nothing (I think 3) where it showed Reid kneeling and stepped told what I assumed to be his daughter “the world didn’t end”.

He seems like a great guy to have as owner of this team.

@45catfan should probably stop telling people what to do / think about the former owner.

It was found out JR did some awful things. Quit trying to shove his skeletons back in the closet for him, if people wanna talk poo about him, they have a right to while praising the new owner.

JR set the bar pretty low on the personal front I think Tepper can avoid harassing his employees pretty easily
