Maybe I missed it. He got killed on that TD run and much after.

Played 10 snaps. Had 2 sacks. What more do you want? Haynes had 2 sacks, 4 TFL, and 4 QB hits. Those two alone had one less sack than in the entire Panthers preseason in 2018. What more do you want?

We only had 35 sacks as a defense this year. It's pretty easy to see how we could surpass that pretty easily just with our front seven this year.

Say Mario leads the way with 10 (he had 9 last year and 11 the year before), McCoy has 6 (he's had 6 in each of the past two season), Short bounces back and has 6 (he only had 3 last season, but he had 7.5 the season before), Burns and Irvin have 8 apiece (Irvin had 7.5 last season and 8 the season prior)... well, you're already at 38 and that's figuring 0 from Poe, 0 for any edge rusher not named Mario, Burns, or Irvin, and 0 from blitzing interior OLBs (Luke, Shaq, etc.).

Actually the math doesn't check out. He was only in 10 plays. 70 defensive plays is more representable. My math puts it way closer to 434 sacks. Would be a decent season.

Heck, he might even win rookie of the week at least once with those stats.

And then everyone's ego got hurt in Pittsburgh. Rivera waited too long to remove Cam and take over defensive play calling. Year of the black cat (even year).

Though I tend to agree but easier said than done. Those guys were like match sticks in his replacement. Theory is sometimes better than reality.
