Things to watch for in tonight's game between the Panthers and Bears in Chicago: 1. Kyle Allen gets the start over Will Grier with Cam Newton getting the night off. Allen's experience has given him the early nod, but preseason games will carry a lot of weight; 2. Who will back up Christian McCaffrey? Cameron Artis-Payne will be first up with rookie Jordan Scarlett out; Keep an eye on Elijah Holyfield, an undrafted rookie; 3. WR Curtis Samuel has been the star of camp, but how will he perform in preseason games? 4. The debut of the 3-4 base for Carolina, and the debut of first-round pick Brian Burns, an edge rusher out of Florida State; 5. Who will step up at nickel? Javien Elliott, Corn Elder or somebody else?
