thats how compensatory picks work..... If you lose a player to FA and dont replace them with an equal or better player, NFL awards you with a comp pick...

Kalil is excused bc this was done after FA.

You probably know more about it than I do.  I thought he wouldn't count since we didn't " lose " him.  We basically just let him go.

End of contract will always fall under "lose" even if it is mutual. Thats the good thing about comp picks. GMs can play the strat of letting high priced players walk and get awarded in the process. Makes FA even more of a strategic play.

Hurney looks like an evil genius with Norwell, haha.

I know.  I am a little hurt right now so my judgement is off.

I know it is ridiculous, but I expected a number where we all would just think ok, that is totally justified to take a dump on us, haha.

Eh, it's a money grab, so I can't hate him for that.

Well, that was unexpected. He seemed to fully accept that he was totally washed by the end of last season and seemed downright apologetic about his play at times.

He’s been washed for several years now. He got a few years of hurney-fan-favorite free money here might as well get it somewhere else.

I will get over it.  I guess the best way to put it is it feels like you had a good friend at work and he just up and takes a better offer somewhere else without telling you.  Happy for Ryan, but it still stings.

Damnit man i really wanted him to spend his entire career with us. If we hadnt signed Paradis you gotta think he would've unretired and signed here. I just dont get why he would unretire and play for the worst franchise in the NFL, gotta be something behind the scenes.

God no. He’s done, he’s just getting paid. He’s financially crippled the Panthers for the last 3 years why the hell would you want him back?

He played the Panthers!!!!!  went on a sob story about a retirement tour because he knew he would be cut for his massive CAP last year so Panthers would keep him and convinced the Organization to sign his sorry ass brother prior to that- Ma Fugg this sorry A$$ SOB

I agree with you. He definitely played his cards wisely. He had a big cap hit and contrary to what a lot of people on the huddle were saying I didn't feel there was a massive upgrade when he took over from Larsen coming back from injury in 2017, in fact I saw him get obliterated in pass protection a few times which I had never seen before. He was a vet who knew the protections but he was never worth that money. He knew that the organization wouldn't dump him especially if he made noise about retiring imminently. He got himself and his brother paid then supposedly breaks down weeping on all or nothing after his final game. All of that seems a bit meaningless when he then unretires to join the Jets oh well. I don't blame him nor am I annoyed but I do wonder how RR and MH reflect on this development.

it will be interesting to follow.
