Matt Moore video 2007

Holding interceptions he threw in junk time when filling in for injured quarterbacks or quarterbacks that couldn't get it done at halftimes of games is just stupid. The pressure is different, the preparation you do when you know you're a starter as opposed to a backup is different, the defenses are teeing off when you come in near the ends of games when you're down a lot because the guy in front of you couldn't get the job done, there are a lot of variables that make it unfair to throw Moore's picks in there when he wasn't starting the game.

Everybody says, we dont need a stud QB for our system....Why the hell not? Dont you always want the best option at every position???? Wouldnt we be that much better if we had a Tom Brady or Peyton Manning....We just get too accustomed to having poo to work with and need excuses.

I agree, 4 TDs and 13 INTs are much better

I don't like Jake, look at my 7-32 thread, but Matt Moore isn't the answer, thats very clear. How does McCown come in and jump him on depth chart after about two practices? have have been one, can't remember for sure. Very simple, he's not that good, and if you'd watch those 3 games, not highlights, you'll see.

Nearly everyone on this board watched those games in 2007 that Moore started and people were crowing about his performance after all those games. I saw all three and thought Moore did great.

Maybe thats the problem why we are losing then. Every week we got starters out, so the backups don't play hard cause they are not suppose to. I understand now.

Totally agree. I saw them too. He was better than David Carr that year and looked a little better than Vinny too. He had a better record than both as a starter.

no really explain why he is not that good. all you ever say is his is not that good. why isnt he. give me something. is it all his turnovers? he probably has less in his 3 years than jake has this season.

We threw into coverage a lot and the corners and safeties didn't pick them. Looked like Brady Quinn, does that answer what you need to know?

No, but it's a completely different animal.

Even if you DO factor in all of Moore's picks from games he came in for relief, he's STILL comparable with the majority of rookie quarterbacks playing in the same amount of time. Was he as good as Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco were? No, but he was better in 2007 than any other quarterback has been that has come into the league since Moore did in '07.

And if you go by just their first three starts, Moore is right there with Ryan and ahead of Flacco.

That is funny! Coming in to play for an injured player in a game, and what he does doesn't count, wow!

Moore's decision making will come with experience. When he came out, Jaws was all over his jock. During the draft he kept saying what a "diamond in the rough" Moore was going to be. He said whatever team got him was going to be very lucky.

I don't believe he doesn't know the playbook. In the games I saw him play in '07, he made reads, got the ball out quick, and was accurate. He may not be able to chuck the ball 80 yards, but that doesn't matter in the NFL, not many passes are made over 40 yards from release to target. What matters is the zip on the ball, which from what I've seen, Moore has plenty of.

Jake has zip on his throws too, but mentally he is f*cked. That's the problem. Jake always had overthrows throughout his career here. But, usually his overthrows were made in areas of the field that didn't allow for INTs, such as the sidelines or the corners of the field in a Cover 2... But, now he's throwing them high in the middle of the field.

Moore always appeared accurate and to have good command of the ball. And as far as his performances in preseason, who cares? Preseason means nothing. Colt Brennan and Dennis Dixon (who I think will be a very good player) looked better than their starters in preseason yet they were the 3rd QBs on their rosters.

Moore's only going to get better and work the kinks out by playing. The guy has all the tools. I want the best for Jake and hope he gets out of his funk, but I don't see it happening. I really just wish they'd see what we have in Moore. If we cut the turnovers out, we could still get a wildcard birth... And I don't see that happening until Jake sits. He just can't shake it. Maybe sitting down will do him some good... It got the best out of him coming out of New Orleans. We'll see...

Jake has always sucked, but he is better than the two we currently have on our roster, thats the sad part.

    • Retired jersey, etc. It can't be done on Cam's terms.  'Be patient" and quiet about it is my advice.
    • I see your point 100% and I agree with Cam in principle--but from the business side of things, it is not a valid argument.  Was he doing it for loyalty to the city or money?  He signed a contract and both sides fulfilled that contract, just like a teacher or a lawyer/client. Recently, I hired a stud lawyer at $550 per hour to sue my employer for violations to the UNC system policy that "injured" my professional status and reputation.  If he failed, he would have kept nearly $30,000. We won a big settlement.  Do I owe him more?  Should he be on our Christmas card list?  What if he went public and said, "I gave my all for MHS yet I am not invited to his house for Thanksgiving."  I did give him a positive review and sent his staff a gift card to a restaurant, but that was purely my idea.  Cam was paid about $110m for his time here. He signed a contract, he probably outplayed it and he sacrificed his body to keep Ron Rivera employed.  Not under debate.  But Cam's comment suggests that the franchise owes him more for doing his job well--at least in terms of honor and recognition--I agree, but it it can't come from Cam--and they owe him nothing. They should do it, and they will, but not on Cam's terms.  I also think it would be different if we had won a Super Bowl.  Frankly, Cam never had 2 winning seasons in a row--so I can see both sides.  Maybe only Dan Marino gets a statue without bringing Miami a ring; can you think of another?  Fran Tarkenton?  Warren Moon?  The Titans retired his jersey, and maybe the Panthers should do that for Cam--While I agree with Cam, I just think it should not come from Cam or people in his position. He played, got paid, and the rest is political, emotional, and cordial.  It seems petty coming from Cam.  So yeah, I feel you, but I don't think that statement helps him.  Just my perspective.
