Tepper is talking about using hotel tax, so the only taxpayers that would be funding the new stadium are people staying in hotels.

Real life examples from Detroit & Oakland.  Citizens getting screwed b/c not enuf $$$ to fund city ops.

**Around the country, other cities’ budgets are still reeling from the costs of subsidizing stadiums. Bloomberg News linked Oakland’s 2011 decision to decrease its police force by 18 percent to debt from building the Coliseum, cuts which increased average police response time to 17 minutes. And in 2014, Detroit was forced to cut pensions for retirees by 4.5 percent to subsidize a new stadium for the Red Wings, a stadium which the Red Wings will pay one dollar a year to lease.**

Ur kiddin right?

If $1bn in tax revs r switched from the city acct 2 Teppers pocket u will either receive less in the way of city services, or pay more in taxes.

Comprehensive article on fallacy of public funding of stadiums.

A hotel tax doesn't have to take money from the city. I think that is the point.

Think I can help u here, some example.

Assume total city budget = $100.  Tepper gets $0.

City increases hotel tax, raises incremental $10, total budget now = $110.

How shud we spend the extra $$$'s?

Murder rate has doubled since last yr, hiring more police might be a good idea?

West Charlotte H.S. boys basketball couldnt afford to travel to state champ game, sounds like schools cud use some more $$$'s?

Or shud we hand over the extra $$$'s to a guy who already has $11 billion of his own?

For perspective entire budget for CLT is only $2.6 billion.

Personally I’m in favor of a dome over our stadium but not a new stadium altogether

This is exactly what I want.  Not because I want a dome, I could care less about that... BUT because I do NOT want a new stadium.  I LOVE my seats and don't want to lose them.

Let’s say this is done and completed within a 5-7 year time frame; that’s right around the time I planned on getting PSL’s. This is perfect!

...if a new stadium is built to accomplish a dome...i smell a good ol fashion PSL fkin comin...

I met Mr. Tepper tonight. He’s everything everybody says he is. He also said “are you ready for a roof?”

It was a pleasant exchange. I’m not breaking any ground here, but what a helluva find with that owner.
