We have 4 all pro players in our front 7 yet we should be not that excited? How about we worry about our Oline and just agree our defense is going to be nasty.

I see what you're saying but with the way the pro bowl is voted on now it is ridiculous to consider the pro bowl anything worthwhile. If they were for all pros then that would be something to talk about

Has anyone heard anything about Haynes or is he tracking towards being JAG?

I got you this nugget bro- Moton gave him props. Said he took a step forward this off-season and would help him get better.

Edit to add: While I'm also excited about the potential of our defensive line,

you're being a little more optimistic about Butler than I think the situation warrants. Neither Poe nor KK was playing anywhere near a Pro Bowl level in 2018, and Star wasn't a Pro Bowl level player at any point during his time here. When given opportunities, Butler hasn't been a stand out. I don't think the Panthers picked up his fifth year option which speaks to their own internal appraisal.

Butler has been a disappointment so far...but ya know...the changes on the D this year could be just what he needed.  Don't know that but why not be hopeful? Also..he is playing for a contract...had  to hurt not to have his option picked up.  There is some good vet leadership there to help him.

Anybody else wondering if Pep would've retired post off-season moves?

Maybe I'm alone but I'm thinking he's definitely looking at that sack list and shaking his head at the potential.

Who know's, maybe he wanted to come back and we TD'd him so he respectfully bowed out...guess we'll never know.

Peppers works for the Panthers. He retired as a player and became part of management. I doubt we forced him out. At his age he was still our best rusher. I bet he didn't want to play in a 3-4. He did that in Green Bay  and always seemed to prefer the 4-3. It was his choice and he went out on his terms unfortunately without a Lombardi.

Yeah, he's playing for "a contract". He might be playing for his career. A former 1st round pick who has only recorded two sacks and 45 tackles in three seasons while missing 10 games? Not good.

I cannot remember where I saw it (I think Panthers.com maybe?) But it stated that Haynes was getting a lot of work with the 1s and 2s. Take it with a grain of salt but sounds pretty promising.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
