Depression is a real illness. It can rob a man of all his motivation and drive. Tearing your ACL the season your team goes to the Super Bowl, then battling back only to lose the most important person in your life. I could see him feeling like the world had it out for him.

That is so sad that he just didn't show up. That sounds like it could have a mental health basis. I hope he gets whatever help he needs.

I saw somewhere that Kelvin declined the invitation. Not sure of the accuracy. But even if he still dreams of playing somewhere, I have to think he was wise to turn down NY. The media pressure in that city is insane. Probably not something Kelvin would thrive under.
