I have been in a similiar situation in my career as D-jax was portrayed. My language may have not been the same but my body language was much similiar. I can empathize with the kid.

It didnt take long for me to understand that to be better I had to approach situations differently, and accept feedback. I dont think this is different from many, just part of the growing process.

Head case.... no. Passionate player who wants to be great, and is learning that it doesnt happen over night.... yes.

Good perspective .

what were you doing at the time ?

He was taking feedback from an assistant DB coach, Mike Adams, Captain, and Reid was sitting in the background.

3 of the 4 aren’t in the league or even on the panthers this year, take that for what you think. He was/is a younger guy, it could be frustrating to have guys coaching and giving you feedback every week especially after starting 6-2 and finished the way we did. What we saw was maybe a total of 5 minutes of convo throughout 18 weeks. Who knows how he actually takes it and studies. It’s a tv show, you see what the producers what you to see. I don’t think he is a head case at all.

What I find funny is they are using captain as the guy giving him feedback with Adams. Captain had a reputation of not helping younger guys and even telling them the wrong stuff on purpose so he wouldn’t lose his job (from Josh Norma).

Interesting you don't think he is a head case watching the same five minutes other's said made him a head case. We see what we are looking for

Clearly he needs to grow and mature but isn't that different from most rookies. Again why I prefer veterans over rookies until they have learned and matured somewhat. I expect big improvement this year.

Just like every kid out of college trying to lead before being capable at my current role. I thought people were trying to beat to it, but really they were just trying to help. When I received feedback, I thought it was just them trying to poke holes in my performance. Things we learn when we grow.

And that's the problem.  You're looking for it.

I agree with you that he was in a bad position last year and will improve.  I remember when rookies never saw the field unless it was ST's.

No he's not a headcase.  He does run hot though.

Donte Jackson had 4 interceptions including one returned the length of a field for a touchdown to put us back in the Saints game and keep our playoff hopes alive.   If for only a few more minutes.

He is >>>> Worley and is a elite level athlete.  Yes he got burned trying to use his speed to cut the route.  But I don't think he got burned much more than others in the secondary.

He's a young guy that needed coaching and needed to grow, but when you're that young, it's hard. What they were saying made sense and to Jackson it seemed like he was doing everything and I can totally understand how the pressure he was getting put under constantly may have only made it worse. They were hoping to say something and the light would come on so they just kept talking trying to be the good mentor, but no one can make you flip the switch. You've got to find it and flip it yourself.

That's what djax needed to do and that's what happened, but I don't the other guys helped all that much, I think they were trying to rush something that had to happen naturally within his head. I think he'll be fine. He'll make some boneheaded plays from time to time, but the majority of the time he'll be solid with moments of being spectacular.

Whole lot of overreaction in this thread.

Is he a headcase? Don't know yet, too early to tell.

Is it concerning? Maybe, but a lot of times with these reality TV shows they pick and choose what to show and when they show it to build a narrative they want to push.

Have any panthers come to Jackson's defense yet?

You may be right.   But in my experience playing all through college, those veteran meetings aren’t had with a player who has taken to coaching and isn’t a headcase.

But the difference is I have no problem playing with a headcase that meets his potential on the field.  The guys that get labeled a tumor are the headcase’s that don’t realize their potential.

And while I think Donte may be a headcase, I think he will meet his potential and be a damn good player.  I think his fast start last year led to him believing he was a little more NFL ready than he actually was.

Hope he balls out this year.

    • I complete disagree. Who is available is extremely relevant. If you have a couple of players you would be happy with and you can still get them if you trade back, you should do that in a heartbeat. Being afraid that people will lowball you next year is an odd stance. Then you just say no next year, problem solved. In this particular draft you can get a very good player at 46. But to each their own.
    • I don't think so.  Watson really screwed them up.  I see something happening, but do not know what.  Cousins could be had in a trade--but they liked Flacco when he played there.  If it were me, I would not spend the #2 pick on Sanders.  I would go after a tier 2 qb because I think Will Howard is going to start in the NFL soon, and I think Ewers was rated very high at the beginning of the year--he knows adversity and he beat out a Manning while taking Texas to 2 playoff appearances.  I am not good at picking QBs, but I think Howard's run pass option and his accuracy is going to help someone.  Stay in Ohio and play for the Browns behind Flacco--
    • After Cam at #1, there are three or four elite players and there could be a trade--If I am the Giants and I am needed a winning season badly and I have several needs, I might trade out and pick up mid first and an extra second rounder, including a QB--while nobody is going to move up to #3 for Sanders, they might for Carter or Hunter.  If the Giants then move back, Sanders could still be in play.  That could be the trade in the top 3.  New England wants Campbell and I get that; Jacksonville at #5 could move back if someone wants Graham or Jeanty.  But barring some trade, the top 4 are probably locked in. So it could be 2 hours into the draft before we get any surprises. Nice list, by the way--you nailed it.
