One big takeaway from All or Nothing.

My takeaway is that we don't pay attention. Newton's shoulder issue started much earlier. It was talked about in media, in press conferences, by Rivera. Yet we were certain it was the Steelers game. Also that his shoulder was not the issue with this team.

It was 100% the issue. We were legit in every game except the Steelers game. If Cam is healthy and even remotely capable of getting the ball more than 15 yards down the field I would bet at least 3 of those games go our way and we’re talking about a much different narrative.

Tepper said it best. “This is an 8-8 league” the league is set for everyone to be on an even playing field. Its the extra inches that makes you either an 11-5 or 5-11 team. Your superstar QB being able to throw the ball is a pretty significant inch

I like the emotion. I understand the need for having a public face but it gives me the warm and fuzzies knowing that the owner, coaches, and players HATE to loose.

The public face is only because the Media will turn any truthful human emotions into drama. The media nowadays is just vile.

You should watch the documentary.

Blowing leads isnt the QBs issue. It got to where he could not be effective he was efficient and effective the vast majority of the season. Defense couldn't stop late game comebacks. People were demoted, fired, and the whole defense changed up and retooled. It's as obvious as can be

Yeah the biggest problem from early in the season was the defense. It was largely undisciplined and to an extent felt like Mike Shula had started coaching the D in the way it was managed. Defense was sloppy,  unprepared, and outcoached. We were lucky to have been on the streak we were on and it was only a matter of time before it was exposed. Rivera should have taken over much earlier.

Behind closed doors is good but should he not be a good coach on the field. I haven't watched the film but just reading all the post. The game is on the line on the field... Be a good coach on the field and just maybe we would win more. Be more complete as a coach.

I watched the whole thing already. Defense was definitely an issue, but its been an issue for years. We blew leads all the time in 2015, the difference was Cam was healthy and at MVP form and was there to bail us out. Our defense was quite literally the worst in the league the back end of 2017 and we still went 11-5.

I’m 3 episodes in. I loved it when he was blasting the D after the Falcons game but made it clear that it starts with him as a defensive HC and he’d do better. Took responsibility and didn’t throw anyone under the bus. People assume the guy doesn’t take responsibility because of press conferences which is ridiculous.

Or maybe they just legitimately didn't generate much good TV content.

Yeah Bradberry clips were all probably so boring that they couldn’t use them. Surprised by lack of Curtis though. And 3 episodes in there’s been no Donte either but maybe he’s coming?

Newton's shoulder clearly was a substantial factor in the trajectory of our season effectively torpedoing.

Unfortunately the defense was at times horrific, you can't downplay that. There is simply no excuse for a Luke Kuechly helmed defense to give up 40+ points in primetime, beginning with basically an instant touchdown by Pittsburgh after our offense set the tone to start the game. You aren't going to win much in the NFL playing like that regardless of who is behind center.

All this feel good, mushy Rivera talk is fine, but unfortunately that doesn't matter when it comes to gameday. Rivera has proven to be a mediocre head coach at best that folds under pressure. He has a lot to prove this year or he'll be out of a job next offseason.

I dont think anyone disagrees he’s a mediocre coach on gameday. He’s been a coach 8 years now and still has terrible clock management, no sense of urgency, and plays way too conservative. I think the takeaway from the show though is that he’s not some stoic, lazy coach with no fire that doesnt get on players and hold them accountable

Part of the problem is he doesn't own it publicly. At least he didn't. That's a big deal.
