McCaffrey or Kamara Gets To 1000/1000 in 2019? (Article)

well, I hope he doesn't get 1000 receiving.

I hope our offense is better and we aren't playing Cam can't throw 10 yards football again.  Plus, I won't Samuel and Moore to become bigger parts in a healthy O.

I mean CMC could do it.  I guess it would be neat.  But I don't really want him to get the reps it would take to reach a 1000/1000 season.

Kamara had his chance last year when Ingram was out for the first 4 games.  They couldn't run the ball at all until they played the Giants.  Kamara may get 1000 yards receiving before CMC, but he may never get 1000 yards rushing.

What is this hogwash lol. Kamara led the league in scrimmage yards before Ingram came back. He had 275 yards on the ground on 5 YPC. He had 16 and 19 carries in 2 of the first 4 weeks. He only touched 16 carries 2 more times the rest of the season. He averages a half yard more per carry on the ground that CMC for their careers.

Damn, do you even visit the Saints board?

Well when Marshall Faulk the last person to get 1000/1000 , that team won the Super Bowl that year, and wasnt that primarily known for being a down the field passing attack? They still had a WR who got more receiving yards than Faulk did and two other WRs that got at least 600.

Just because CMC may get 1000/1000 doesn't mean we can't win at the same time. He could get to 1000 receiving yards with way less receptions if he increased his yards per reception. By the same logic he could get to 1000 yards rushing with less rushes if he increased his YPC.

Exactly. Now add that if the defense improves, they get off the field quicker which gives Cam more offensive plays. We assume that Cam won't throw for 4000 yards but why not? With all the quick elusive players we have drafted I expect more electric plays than last year. With more opportunities come more yards for everyone. This offense could be the new age greatest show on turf and grass and whatever else. Cam could throw fewer passes and gain more yards and score more touchdowns at the same time. On the other hand we could get short fields and score lots of points but not get many yards. What a tough problem to have.

Oddly enough, Norv Turner has never had a QB pass for 4000 or more yards as an offensive coordinator. However, as a head coach, it has happened in Washington(Brad Johnson once) and San Diego(Philip Rivers four times).

Not sure that necessarily means we wouldn't but I did find that interesting.

He never had this much offensive talent since the game changed to a passing game. Plus even as head coach it was his offense in San Diego.

While it would be neat to be the 3rd member of the 1,000/1,000 club, I would be just as happy for CMC if he ended up at 1,600/700 this year.  Why?  That means we had an effective running game and Cam was able to distribute the ball to multiple players in the passing game while keeping Christian as a key component as well.  Milestone records/elite clubs are cool to reach/join, but there's one club that I want us to get into and that's the winning a Super Bowl club.  I'm sure CMC would gladly take a Super Bowl ring over a long-shot statistical club.  There's no rings for the 1,000/1,000 club that I'm aware of.

Kamara's a beast but that's a little disingenuous to use "career" compared to just last season as an apples to apples comparison. The saints had one of the best offensive minds in the league calling their offensive plays in 2017 and the Panthers had a paste eater.

When we hired a dude that was even remotely mediocre, CMC's YPC jumped up to 5.0 last year whereas Kamara's dropped to 4.6.

Again, Kamara's a beast but CMC was definitely hindered by one of the worst offensive coordinators in the league his rookie year.

Give me either or between the two of them and I'd be thrilled to have them on my team.
