Chill TF out..

I'm tired of everyone flipping out and overreacting to what is going on.. if you are a real fan, you know what TF we are doing.. Cho destroyed this squad years ago and we finally pulled the pin.. the roster wasn't made in one season.. we are now finally tanking - plain and simple. Throwing a chunk of money at Rozier is not going to reshape the franchise. It is an attempt to keep butts in the seats for a while we try and tank. Rozier is a nice PG - but 35 wins is what I saw quoted in another thread - that's crazytalk..

we will be a top 3-5 pick next year, shed Marvin, MKG and Biz contracts (that's over $44M in salary). Couple that with Zeller and Batum's huge expiring contracts and you have the potential to trade for maybe 2 extra first round picks.

I see us losing lots and lots of games this year, but will need to see if Bacon, Monk and Miles can put together some +20 pt games and a handful of double-doubles.. Hopefully Washington gets major minutes and we get to see what all the kids can do.

So to sum it up.. chill TF out and embrace the tank.. it will be 2 years before we can that about competing for the playoffs.. everyone pick your secondary teams to pull for and enjoy the shake up to the league.. it's been awhile (maybe 5-6 years) since the teams playing in the championship series wasn't decided before the season started.. peace be with you..

You fail to mention how we let our two best players walk for absolutely nothing. If the plan was to tank and rebuild it would probably have been a good idea to try and get as much value as we possibly could for them.

Kemba could have netted some sweet draft picks if he was traded last offseason, with the chance to draft Zion this year.

It would've been, but what assets did the Hornets have to go with it? It's likely that some team would've wanted Kemba but they knew he was going to be an UFA in July and it didn't make sense to trade the world for him. Every team that would've been contending that may have wanted him didn't need him.

The Hornets would've been in a position to trade him and their own draft picks to compensate for getting Kemba out of Charlotte. Lamb was good for the Hornets but didn't hold a lot of trade value for a contender either. It may also have lead to an investigation by the NBA if the Hornets traded Lamb and Kemba for peanuts while theoretically being in the hunt for a playoff spot.

At any rate, the bad contracts come off the books soon, develop the young talent and ready some for a trade to open cap space to get Steph Curry in 2022 along with another guy. Hopefully have some semblance of a roster and use Curry along with Jordan to recruit. It's an era of needing superstars to compete and Kemba wasn't that guy; the Hornets are now in a better position to get those meetings in the near future.

Steph Curry will be 34 in 2022. No thanks. That ship has sailed.

Aren’t you just a little concerned with the track record of management here?  You couldn’t possibly do it worse than they have.  What makes u think they suddenly grow a brain between them.

James is 35. Still the best player in the world (yes, better than Kawhi and KD). Curry's game translates well to aging because he isn't just an athletic 1. Pick him up at 34 for 3 years so he can finish his career at home. He, even at 34, can attract other players to fill out the team and another superstar guy.

His home is in California, which is also where his television production company is.

He's not coming back to Charlotte.

We were offered a lottery pick for Kemba last season and they were also willing to take Marvin’s crappy contract.  MJ wouldn’t do it unless they took Batum’s contract.

if MJ knew he was unwilling to give Jenba a max deal, then he is a complete business moron did not trading him.

Just another incompetent move by MJ

we give ridiculous contracts to our own mediocre players...we have botched every draft...and now this.  He is beyond incompetent.

I think the real reason are mad is

1) We didn't trade when we could and get picks and whatnot.    Since it's obvious a small market team has to draft right, we need all the picks we can get but yet we ignored trade offers.

2) We lowballed him which was an insult.   Should have just said we're moving on with a new focus and the split would make sense.

I'm not sure the majority is mad we lost Kemba, we were all prepared for it, it's how it went down is the issue.

    • I find it more like now that I have been forced to watch Young so much it isn’t as much of a shock to my senses.   Desensitized they call it.   For real, it just looks normal almost now. Where the first game of 2023 I wasn’t sure what I was looking at it was so out of bounds for NFL type play. I literally couldn’t make sense of what I had seen vs Atlanta that first week.
    • Lynch in SF. Great is subjective but he has done pretty well there.
    • Sure, except Stroud has the ability to stretch the field with deep passes. He did that often last night with ease, but couldn’t connect on many due to being flustered by the defense. BY9 gets flustered and can’t throw screens, let alone even think about any deeper passes. Stroud would’ve changed the franchise and done more with the situation last year. My thought at least.    the hope is that last year showed tepper that he needed to step back from football decisions. There’s a positive in most situations and maybe we’ll see a new tepper in the near future.
