What infuriating about that is just how little we used CJ last season to take advantage of CMC's absurd versatility.  Sometimes we are just a dumb team....hell....seemingly most times.

I agree. I'm very disappointed we have never used CMC in more two back sets with his ability to work out of the backfield as a runner or receiver as well as his ability to split out. Seems perfect to create someatch up probls for defenses.

It would have been simple, but it also would have takes some creativity.  Very odd that our run game is so versatile, but that seemed like it was never in the cards.  Just a very weird fault of either Norv or Ron and Norv.

Repeats it 3-4 times??

Dear God man.  Faulk and Craig only did it 1 time each.

If he gets the 1k/1k club he's not auto in but it sets him apart for sure.

Perhaps 3 or 4 times is an exaggeration still how many running backs get chosen for the Hall? He has to be best of his generation and with several guys with similar skills, in order for him to stand out he needs to do something that ensures it. After all look at Olsen. He is the first TE to get three 1000 yards seasons in a row. Is he mentioned as a future Hall of famer? If so I haven't heard it mentioned often.

It was Norv's first year in this offense. Let's see how he does year 2. I suspect he has planned a number of new wrinkles.

I agree, however it would have been a perfect time to break out the 2 back system.  We had two really good backs on the roster, and we were running one of them into the ground while the other rode the pine.

We mismanaged the hell out of CJ and CMC last season.  (although CMC was can't miss television)

Not sure why CJ wasn't used more. I don't think it was easy to get CMC off the field and when CJ was in there he wasn't as productive. I doubt he ever got into a rhythm and had few reception opportunities.

I'm curious to see if there are any looks we have planned with both CMC and Samuel in the backfield with Samuel's college RB experience. With him missing so much time due to injury and the possible heart issue, I have to think we have bigger plans for him and we've just had to keep it simple and basic so far with him simply because he's missed so much time while also trying to learn how to be an NFL WR.

Jumping the gun by about 4-5 years. Not even Cam and Luke are HoF locks right now, 8 and 7 years into their careers... though they are on good pace.

Newton isn't, but Kuechly definitely is IMO.  5x 1st Team All-Pro (6x Pro Bowler), 2013 DPOY, and 2012 DROY, and was a 2nd team All-Pro in 2016.  He has more All-Pros and only 2 less Pro Bowls than Urlacher, who is already in the Hall.

He's got ways to go before he's a 1st ballot lock, but he's going to the Hall of Fame at one point even if it took 5-6 years before he got voted in.  He's been universally considered a top 20 player and the best at his position since 2013.  And guys who win DPOY almost always get inducted unless they accomplished little outside of that (although Pat Swilling isn't in, but almost certainly because they probably hold it against him for playing with the Dome Patrol, unfair or not).  Kenny Easley with a similar resume to Kuechly, albeit at safety, got in as well despite having an injury-shortened career.  I think Kuechly is guaranteed, unless I guess he turns into a terrible player in the second half of his career and it clouds everyone's opinion of him.  But that seems unlikely.

Everything has to be sensationalized these days.

He is entering year 3 at an absurdly physically demanding position on the field.  He will need 10 years of consistent production and more than 10,000 yards and probably a SB title in there to even be considered IMO.

Let's just enjoy what we have for a while before this is a topic.

Lol The hype train lives on. It is laughable right now. People are setting themselves up to be homers

RBs have to be consistent you are correct.  They must make an impact every game, every years for several years AND have the stats AND have a few personal accolades.   If CMC does hit the 1k/1k mark in year 3?  That is a really good sign.

I believe if Olsen has a good run this year he will be a HOF.  Recency bias works both ways.  When you get a chance to review his career start to finish it will add up to one of the best to ever do it.  He's still in uniform so its no less than 5 years away.  We'll just have to see if he's a first ballot guy or not?

I don't think Olsen is there yet. He seems to be under the radar.

    • I complete disagree. Who is available is extremely relevant. If you have a couple of players you would be happy with and you can still get them if you trade back, you should do that in a heartbeat. Being afraid that people will lowball you next year is an odd stance. Then you just say no next year, problem solved. In this particular draft you can get a very good player at 46. But to each their own.
    • I don't think so.  Watson really screwed them up.  I see something happening, but do not know what.  Cousins could be had in a trade--but they liked Flacco when he played there.  If it were me, I would not spend the #2 pick on Sanders.  I would go after a tier 2 qb because I think Will Howard is going to start in the NFL soon, and I think Ewers was rated very high at the beginning of the year--he knows adversity and he beat out a Manning while taking Texas to 2 playoff appearances.  I am not good at picking QBs, but I think Howard's run pass option and his accuracy is going to help someone.  Stay in Ohio and play for the Browns behind Flacco--
    • After Cam at #1, there are three or four elite players and there could be a trade--If I am the Giants and I am needed a winning season badly and I have several needs, I might trade out and pick up mid first and an extra second rounder, including a QB--while nobody is going to move up to #3 for Sanders, they might for Carter or Hunter.  If the Giants then move back, Sanders could still be in play.  That could be the trade in the top 3.  New England wants Campbell and I get that; Jacksonville at #5 could move back if someone wants Graham or Jeanty.  But barring some trade, the top 4 are probably locked in. So it could be 2 hours into the draft before we get any surprises. Nice list, by the way--you nailed it.
