LeBron James

King Taharqa

Some people fail to realize that maybe Lebron doesn't want to be the only superstar on his team and doesn't want to have to lead his team to a title all by himself. Maybe he just wants to play basketball, love it, and win?

I have zero problem with that...but then perhaps he should drop the King title and the hour long press conferences! If you wanna pretend to be the best, then be the best...if you wanna be just another player...the STFU!

just my opinion of course

You're right. If you want to be compared with MJ and the greats, then win a title with YOUR OWN TEAM. Dont bail after 7 seasons, MJ didnt bail after losing to the Pistons 3 years in a row. Lebron will never realize what he's truely done. He can win 5 titles in Miami, but he'll never be looked at as "the chosen one" because you couldnt do it with your own team.

For real.

A kid born in Akron, Ohio gets the good fortune to be blessed by God with tremendous abilities, gets lucky enough to be drafted by his home town team the Cavaliers, gets them to the brink of winning championships.........

then he QUITS on them. Takes LESS money to go somewhere else where the burden of winning is shared three ways instead of just one.

Just ask yourself if you could ever see Kobe or Jordan doing this. Those guys WANTED to be the focal point of their teams. They wanted that pressure because they could handle it. When Shaq left town, everybody said Kobe was over. He stayed the course, let the team build around him, and now has more rings. He didn't run to the Celtics with KG to win some quick and cheap rings.

Today is the day that Lebron James' career died to me. No recovery for him. I don't care if he wins 10 straight. He's gutless and would rather fade into the background with 3 other stars than stand alone and shine, bringing everybody else up WITH HIM. The greats of the game elevated others to their level. The bitches of the game pushed everybody else down to show how alone they were out there. That's what Bron has been doing in Cleveland for the past few years.

You'll never be Jordan. Hell, you'll never be Kobe.

I couldnt have said it better. You sound like a person from Ohio. He doesnt realize that he can never be called the greatest of all time, even if he does win 10 titles in Miami. He chose to back away from the pressure and let down not only a city but a state because he wasnt man enough for the challenge.

Different time, different league. And how does everyone know he wants to be like MJ? He probably wants to be different more so than the same.

And whats all this with "your own team"? Kobe had Shaq, then Gasol. How is that any different than him going to them? Ohh, so it's different when the players come to you, right? Actually, that seems a bit more arrogant.

The press crowned him and continue to elevate his status.

Seriously though, the "with his own team" stuff (which I've heard so much and commented on myself) isn't as big of a deal as it is made out to be. Sometimes there are better places to play. Do you expect Lebron to spend his whole career in Cleveland if he doesn't believe he can win there? Why would he stay if he believes he can win elsewhere? The loyalty stuff is getting out of hand.

I don't know about others, but I don't really care about him leaving. free agents leave all the time, it's really not a big deal. it's how he did it that is making people hate him.

it's the same for Peppers. I knew he was going to leave and it sucked, but I didn't really care. it's his comments after that makes me mad.

I never said poo about loyalty...that is a phrase from the past when it comes to sports!!!

Seriously though, if you got offered a lot of money to move somewhere or you were offered some other incentive (such as winning championships), would you not move?

I'm all about the hometown. I don't think I will ever want to live anywhere else. However, I'll tell you right now that my "loyalty" (which it is not loyalty, it is familiarity) would disappear in a heartbeat if I got a call saying I could make 2mil a year somewhere else.

of course I would...like I said...loyalty is a thing of the past. For Lebron though, hes 25 years old and was in the process of building a championship team around himself. You know money is always going to be there....so in my opinion, he would have been better off to wait a season or two to see if you could finish what he started in Cleveland...and then look elsewhere.

he makes less in miami then cleveland bro...your argument is invalid

Who?

offered some other incentive (such as winning championships)

If I was offered a Lambo, a Ferrari and a Lotus I would also move.

I wish he would have stayed as well, but I also find it exciting what is happening in Miami. I think it is opening the NBA up a little and if more players do what Lebron did (selling out - selling out for winning) it will produce better teams with more competition.

Doesnt matter if it's a different time. The great ones and their image will always stay the same. Jordan didnt give up when he lost to the Pistons 3 years in a row. Kobe didnt leave LA after Shaq left. They got good players to join, and they even lost an NBA finals series with Gasol, so you contradict your own point. If you're going to downgrade Kobe for having Shaq and Gasol, then you should definatley do the same to someone who was going to challenge Jordan as the greatest ever.

And he didnt even have the class to tell the Cavs. Cleveland worshipped him, and he didnt even have the balls to tell them first. He had to have the limelight, national tv, a whole hour on espn all to himself. How about some class and tell the owner and fans who supported you for 7 years first.

Cheap championships wont earn you the honor of G.O.A.T. which is what everyone has been saying since his freshman year of highschool
