LeBron James

I know he won't do it... But if Lebron was serious when he said all he cares about is winning then Orlando would hands down be the best place for him to go. They would probably win about 4 rings in a row. Howard, LBJ, Nelson, and a couple of perimeter shooters.... That team would be unstoppable. Then they play in the east meaning they will have a easy road to the finals every year... Not going to happen, but the best move to win IMO

League fines Cuban $100K for speaking on LeBron

NEW YORK (AP)—The NBA won’t tolerate its teams talking about prospective free agents yet.

The league fined Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban $100,000 Saturday for comments made about free-agent-to-be LeBron James that violated the league’s anti-tampering rules.

Phoenix Suns president Steve Kerr also was fined $10,000 for comments he made in a radio interview.

Teams are not allowed to talk about another team’s players until July 1, when free agency opens. Commissioner David Stern said recently that his clubs had done well following the rules, even as fans and the media continue to speculate about what James and fellow free agents in summer’s class might do.

Asked on Tuesday night before the draft lottery about what teams were allowed to do, Stern said: “Come July 1, just about everything goes. Before July 1, nothing goes.”

In an interview this week with CNNMoney.com, Cuban said “anybody” would be interested in James. Cuban said it would be tough to sign the two-time MVP in free agency, but said the Mavericks would have a chance if James told the Cavaliers to arrange a sign-and-trade deal.

Cuban didn’t immediately return an e-mail from The Associated Press.

Asked by Sports Illustrated’s Dan Patrick in a May 14 show if the Suns would be in the James’ sweepstakes, Kerr joked that they would be willing to give him the mid-level exception, worth about $5.6 million—about $11 million less than the superstar could sign for .

POTUS speaks on The King & Chicago

If LeBron James isn't sure he can win in Cleveland, President Barack Obama thinks there's an opportunity with his hometown Chicago Bulls.

"You know, like I said, I don't want to meddle," Obama told TNT. "I will say this: [Derrick] Rose, Joakim Noah it's a pretty good core. You know, you could see LeBron fitting in pretty well there."

Obama was interviewed about a number of basketball subjects by broadcaster Marv Albert on the White House basketball court. The interview will be shown Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET.

James can become a free agent this summer, and his decision whether to leave the Cavaliers is one of the hottest topics in sports. Though he's never said he wants out of his native Ohio, there's speculation he'd consider it after the Cavaliers were knocked out of the playoffs in the second round by the Boston Celtics.

"I think that the most important thing for LeBron right now is actually to find a structure where he's got a coach that he respects and is working hard with teammates who care about him and if that's in Cleveland, then he should stay in Cleveland," Obama said. "If he doesn't feel like he can get it there, then someplace else."

Obama compared James' situation to the Bulls not winning until Michael Jordan had confidence in Phil Jackson, Scottie Pippen and the rest of his teammates. Once that happened, Chicago won six NBA championships in the 1990s.

"It wasn't until you got that framework around you that you could be a champion," Obama said. "Same thing happened with Kobe [bryant]. You know, I think that, first with Shaq [O'Neal] then later with [Pau] Gasol, you know, he's gotten that sense of a team around him and I think LeBron hasn't quite been able to get that yet. That's what he needs to find."

The interview with Marv Albert is about to air during the TNT Suns-Lakers Game 4 broadcast.

long link but interesting story, close sources? who knows but this is the best scenario so far. Phil would want too much bank and has already had it out with ownership (burnt bridge perhaps?).

Read the article before that one at the end (it links to SI.com). Lebron should not go to the Bulls. He should stay in Cleveland and they should bring in a legitimate teammate that can be relied on in the playoffs, as well as a better coach.

Two words : JULIUS PEPPERS

LeBron is a big fish in a little pond.

The owner/market may not have the cash to put a winner together.

To be honest, I think the coach is the bigger problem. Doc Rivers in Cleveland would be interesting.

Julius Peppers Syndrome is a new, legitimate condition, is it not? :)

For people who love their home town hero, it's sad but it seems to be so. :(

Leaving will begin his(LeBrons) maturation. Good luck to Julius though.
