Panthers go 7-9 and the organization considered cleaning house.

Browns go 7-8-1 and the mistake by the lake fans want to throw the team a parade.

We will see how the browns do this year with lofty expectations. Is anyone really sold on Fred Kitchens?

Not really. I had never heard of this Freddie Kitchens until end of last season.

If you think about it, the Browns aren't really the ones getting cocky (with the exception of OBJ/YN & Faker Mayfield), it's more like the stupid media making them the NFL topic of Summer '19. The NFL overreacted & gave them WAY too many prime time games, just like they did with San Francisco last season all b/c Jimmy G won 6 games & signed a MASSIVE contract. And you see how they turned out; an impressive 4-12 :eyeroll: Jimmy wasn't even all that great; went 1-2 in the games he played.

Let’s not rain on the Browns’ fans parade right now, they are desperate for success.  I don’t mean that in a bad way.  They are one of the most fiercely loyal fanbases in sports, and just the sheer odds say they deserve better than what they have gotten over the years.  And they definitely deserved better than what Art Modell did to them.  Between the offseason moves and the fact the AFCN looks like it is in a downward trend, they can taste the opportunity.  “However,” which is a word defined as “forget everything before this word.”

Their ownership hovers over the team like a buzzard.  Haslam pictures himself to be a football guy and meddles enough to prove he is not.  He’s a less brash Jerry Jones with less football savvy.  Jones’ successes seem like they are just the odds panning out while Haslam’s record will make them look like accidents.  Accidents he may act upon and sabotage.

I said in another discussion that I was born in St. Louis and became a Blues fan when I was 8 years old, so 50 years.  This year, , as they kept winning in the playoffs, I told myself that their achievements were great (and appreciated), and wondered how (not if) they were going to eff it up.  That feeling didn’t start to die until the clock ticked inside of about 10 minutes left in the third period of game 7, and didn’t completely die until they scored again to take a 3-0 lead and the clock ticked inside of 5 minutes.  Sort of like the old Chicago saying about the Cubs, prior to their recent success, "they wouldn't be the Cubs if they didn't break your heart."  I have a feeling the rank and file, veteran Browns’ fans are feeling the same way and will continue to do so as the season unwinds.

Right now, they are a media script for a race where the horses are still in the gate.  Per normal these days.

You know, I love the fans of the Browns. Talk about true believers, through thick and thin. And that is a really great city, just loved it when I visited there. And the Browns, as a historical franchise, are one of the greats going back to Coach Paul Brown and the days of Otto Graham, the guy who really set the mould for modern QBs.

There's just some reason that I do not like this team. It just has all the feel of the famous "dream team" the Eagles put together back in the day. They grabbed every star on the market without a moment's though as to how they would meld together. And that team tripped coming out of the starting blocks to be trampled by just about everyone they faced.

The current Browns team seems a lot like that Philly team, except the 2019 Browns seems to have even more jerks on it. Maybe it's me, but there's just something about these guys that just makes me want to see them get punched in the face repeatedly by their divisional rivals.

Sorry, Browns fans, but those "cool cats" aren't the Dawg Pound's kinda guys.

Personally, I would think that the Browns may be in a better spot for a playoff berth than us.

That division is pretty weak at this point.  Not sure if Jackson can play.  Ben is NOT playing up to level any longer, and just lost AB, and the locker room there seems to be a mess.  Cincy looks devoid of talent and just lost their rook LT for the season.

Meanwhile we play against 1 HOF QB in his prime, and another HOF QB and Coach who do not seem to die.  Although I did see some regression by Brees at the end of the season last year.

Maybe I'm reading the tea leaves wrong, and we do seem to be trending upward, but man that shoulder is a big question mark still.

Let's go try to win this thing and prove McCoy right.

The Browns are perpetual losers like the Lions(maybe the worst sports franchise ever,.. like worst ever ever).

some things never change,.. no matter how much lipstick on that pig.

That’s because the issue isn’t talent and players, both franchises have had great players and talent and everyone knows it

The issue is deeper but the boss isn’t going to fire themselves so until that culture changes they’ll continue the spiral

its sad really, a competent FO could really do something with the browns roster

I figure McCoy saw the Browns and Panthers up close and surely knows this division better than most playing in it his whole career. If he chose us it meant he thinks we are more in win now mode than Cleveland which is what he is interested in. I tend to believe his assessment. We will see if he is right.

Could be that, or he really wants to stay in the South.  Doesn't want to live in Ohio.  Doesn't want what looks to be a circus of a locker room.

Either way, I think that the Browns and the Panthers both make the playoffs this year, and I could argue that the Browns have an easier path than we do.

I think the Browns are going to be good because Baker looks like he’s gonna be a stud QB.

How many qb’s in the history of the NFL had great rookie seasons then crapped their pants?

Yes, he looks like a first ballot HOFer compared to their last two decades of qb’s but that doesn’t mean he’s going to be good
