I think it’s more of Kemba not wanting to be in Charlotte. Based off Stephen a smith’s report,  Kemba actually got offered 20m more to stay and he didnt want to. I understand the avg salary is a difference of 3m but 20m is a lot. Kemba see a better opportunity to win now in the Eastern Conf with Boston. Smart man.

I disagree. The whole front office has ranted for the better part of a year how important Kemba was to this team and that they had to do everything to keep him. Kemba said he wanted to stay in Charlotte. Granted that was before he made an all nba team and qualified for the super max, but thats notwithstanding when you have a player like Kemba. Prepare for more 20 win seasons and getting fuged by the lottery.

So from what I'm seeing, the gap between what Kemba wants and the team is offering is huge. Like it seems the team isn't willing to go 5 years or anywhere close to Max. Regular or supermax. So I'm guessing they are offering four years at the most they can without going into tax.

The win percentage doesn't matter. We had a 75% chance of NOT getting the first pick. And that's what happened. The crime was in selecting MKG over Beal. Another self-inflicted wound.

The fact that AD went to New Orleans was just more salt in the wound.

Well of course we've been horrific at drafting with the spots we've landed at, which haven't exactly been ideal, but even a toddler would have known who to pick with the #1 overall in 2012 and 2019.

Long term it doesn't really matter all that much anymore since the Hornets aren't the only small market team likely to stay in the cellar for the foreseeable future with the draft lottery and the way contracts are ballooning. Eventually players forcing their way out of cities is going to hurt the league when fans in those cities simply stop attenting games. Even the Toronto Raptors after winning a convincing championship might have to watch Kawhi Leonard walk away to a bigger city. Worth it on the Raptors end? Absolutely. But that is the NBA now.

You realize you are talking about the guy that drafted Kwame Brown #1 overall with the Wizards. You honestly think we couldn't fug up a #1 pick? I think you are about to be surprised over the next 5-10 years.

Thats my only problem. We could suck so bad but the NBA will still rigged it

I don't think the NBA rigs it but it is such a hyper stupid system that everyone has reason to question it's legitimacy. There is a reason that other professional sports don't do lotteries, because it is a fundamentally stupid idea.

I’m not buying any of this until something is actually official.

Media is looking for headlines since this so called crazy free agency is looking like it is going to be pretty boring. Remember how KD and Kyrie were a lock to go join Zion in NY. The media is looking for anything they can run with this time of year because there isn’t much going on in the sports world.

With KD and Klay getting injured it killed a ton of potential story lines for them to work with.

It’s definitely rigged. Look at this past lottery. LaL jumped to 4 and NO to 1. NBA is doing everything for Lebron just like when he left Cleveland

It's possible but not likely. If it was rigged, the owners would be pitching a poo fit. It is just a stupid fuging way to do a draft in the first place.

I have a hard time believing that the NBA wanted Zion in New Orleans.

They wanted AD in LA and Zion in No was the only way itd work

Zion has more star potential than AD. No way they want him to rot in NO.

If the lottery was rigged, Zion would be a Knick.

Zion has more star potential that AD?

Zion to Knicks? How the hell would that land AD to Lakers land to help Lebron win another ring then? Exactly. NBA is rigged

Zion has a personality. After 7 years in the league, we still don't know if AD does. Probably because he's been hidden in NO.

As for the second part, if your contention is that the NBA only rigs things so Lebron can win titles, I'll just have to stop taking you seriously.

kemba will win more games in boston than he would in charlotte, but the same could be said of like the pacers or magic or w/e. if this was about winning championships he sure as hell wouldn't be considering boston. i mean it's fine that he's making a purely financial decision, more power to him on that. get your money. just don't act like it's because you "want to win" lol

I mean I agree Boston wouldn't be the title favorite or anything...but they easily will be Top 3 in the East, if not better than that. The Raptors and Bucks both could lose big pieces next week.  The Sixers seem likely to lose Butler and Embiid's health is always a concern...as is Ben Simmons. Adding Kemba to the Celtics could see them (on paper) as the #1 or #2 seed in the East within the next week.

Toss in the fact that GSW will take a hit, the Lakers might actually have to sign and play Carmelo and fill out a roster with bums (AD's injury history, too), and who else is out there?  The Clippers if Kawhi goes, sure.  Houston's drama filled potential new "Big 3", not likely.  The Jazz or Nuggets are the same tier as Boston.  Boston's future gets dicey soon, but next year?  Being a Top 7-8 team might be enough.

Was reported earlier by Stephen A Smith that Kemba has informed the Hornets that he won't be returning. Charlotte believes he is signing with the Celtics.

Said Charlotte offered 5 years 160m, Kemba turned it down and won't accept less then Max to stay.

Update: latest from Woj is Kemba no longer looking at Charlotte, will have agreement with Boston at start of free agency with a 4 year 140m deal.

If this is true it is 100% breaking the tampering rules.
