Burns versus Little: Iron sharpens Iron

Since most people forget, Moton spent much of the preseason weeks at LT and started there week 1. He looked great at LT against a very good Dallas DL and he also looked great in the week 3 (the one where starters play almost the entire game) preseason game against New England, another solid DL. That said, he looked just as good at RT when Williams went down the second time. Moton’s got the ability to ply both tackle spots, which is good and bad. Good because it helps us have depth because he can switch if a backup is better at one or the other. Bad because I worry that they’ll continually move him instead of letting him become a possible Pro-Bowl tackle. I think he’s got that potential.

Moton played one game of his career at LT. He did look good. Little has been a LT since day one. I'm not discounting Moton at all but if you are going simply on how players project to positions then Moton is your prototypical RT and Little is prototypical LT.

It appears they are going to let Moton settle in to the RT and stay barring some kind of emergency.

I would trust Matsko and Wharton to have a good idea where players will do best.

Will be one of the best battles going into TC. Of course Little will see action against the vets as well.

I think Burns might struggle against guys who have played in the League. He’s small and not nearly as strong , will rely totally on speed. If someone gets their hands on him it’s over.

Knowing Rivera, barring injury of a vet or two, neither of them will start at least until the second half of next season if then.

Except that Norv runs the offense and personnel not Rivera. You will have to get another myth to keep repeating.

The whole point of training camp and the preseason is to decide who the starters and backups are going to be. There will be lots of good battles in Spartanburg. Something to.look forward to.

He's not left handed either.

That whole commentary came from a remark that was made that a player who played on the right, not very successfully in the past, might have more success on the left side because they are left handed.  Since most left tackles are likely right handed along with 90% of the world, it hardly seems a major factor.

That quote was the gift that keeps giving.

I know where that left handed comment came from but it has nothing to do with Greg Little being our selection or his chances to succeed here. They guy was just throwing words out to criticize Greg Little. It would be fine if he was critically analyzing but its just regurgitated second round nonsense and whatever this statement was supposed to be.

Maybe we should wait until he actually plays a down before saying much either way.
