I've had a couple of coworkers in the past who were 6'5"+. We traveled quite a bit in our roles, but not quite enough to rack up the really good perks. Upgrades were spotty at best opportunities. Always felt bad for them riding in coach. Those seats definitely aren't meant for people of that height.

The worst flight I ever had personally was a 6am red eye. I was in the very back row, middle seat, sanwiched between one guy who probably went about 350 and another guy who was about 6'6". fuging miserable.

He honestly probably offered too much.  When you tell someone their seat is worth that much, it makes them want to hold onto even more.  It's psychological.  $500 probably would have got it done.
