Michael Thomas wants 22 million to extend with the Saints

We obviously don't have an answer for Michael Thomas, so I'd rather he not be locked up for the future. I've been thinking Brees would get noodle arm for the past two seasons, and while he doesn't have as much arm strength it hasn't stopped him from carving us up.

I don't blame the Saints for being in win now mode. I actually wish we were in win now mode, but with Cam's shoulder it may be a moot point.

You mean the 13 points they hung on us at BOA or the second game where he didn't play?

And we are in win now mode.

We don't have a CB on the roster who I trust to slow him down. I'd rather the Saints not sign him. If that one game gives you confidence then congrats.

Umm, Bradberry did very well against him this past year. 2 games and on 16 targets he only had 78 total yards. Dallas was the only other team that did as well against Thomas. Thomas is a great WR but I think we may have an answer and it sure helped that Ron took over play calling and we got a little pressure. We’ve added a lot more pressure guys so we may be one of the few teams that can contain him so let the Saints pay him $22m a year.

Yeah I think it's going to come down to applying more pressure on Brees.

Somebody on here says this ever year.

Well, it did happen for a while.  Saints went 7-9 for three consecutive seasons, even with one of the best qb's in the NFL because they couldn't afford a defense.  But then they started drafting better.  And making better choices regarding free agents.

That is wishful thinking. Thomas will get his catches. I think that Bradberry can slow him down as long as we give him adequate support.  Fewell will be the best acquisition in the secondary.

The reason ''cap hell'' never exists is because they keep kicking Drew's money down the line by converting salary to bonus, and then when he retires the bloated money won't count against them.

It's not so much cap hell that will hurt them, it's when Brees retires, ala Brady no matter who you put around him at least offensively it's going to work. In the Saints case they've hit on players in the draft pretty big (Thomas, Kamara, Lattimore) and prior to that Ingram as well, Hayward has been a staple as well so the biggest thing is a lot of their BEST players are on rookie deals except - Brees and Hayward.

If Davenport becomes what they anticipate they'll have him as well on a rookie deal with three years still remaining. Then you look behind Drew and you have Teddy Bridgewater, who doesn't wow anyone, but was a good QB in Minnesota.

So as big of a Panther's fan that I am, the Saints have a model that works for them due to having a HOF QB on their roster. Without Brees all of that falls apart. And if they ever had to pay a guy like Teddy that kind of money same deal.

Well, whenever Brees retires, they have little to no hope of being able to afford a reasonable NFL QB. Should be fun to see them try and draft a new franchise QB for the next several years.

You must not of heard of their superstar QB waiting in the wings - Taysom Hill.

When you retire any guaranteed money still on the books accelerates the same as if you cut them or traded them.
