Why Matt Moore Isn't Starting Already!

You do know that in that game Delhomme had completed just one more pass in an extra 6, been sacked twice more (17% of drop backs to Moores 9%) and turned the ball over 4 times less?

Delhomme

Average Pass 4.3

Sack every 5.6 pass plays

Interception every 4.25 pass plays

Turnover every 3.4 pass plays

Moore

Average Pass 5.7

Sack every 11 pass plays

Interception every 11 pass plays

Turnover every 11 pass plays

I am not saying that Moore is going to be the best thing to ever happen to this team, but you can't use Moores season stats when comparing them directly to Delhomme who played worse in the same game.

I know you are frustrated that everyone anointing Moore, but at least think about what you are posting.

You did see who his 3 starts and 2 wins were against? Not the highlights, the entire games. Highlights are like stats, very deceiving. The Seahawks worst offensive game, the Cowboys who would have put us away but got picked off on the one yard line/end zone, and a Tampa team with all the skill players in sweats, on the bench, resting for a playoff game, and you believe he can lead us to wins? The coaching staff see's the kid everyday in practice, so if he's the savior, I believe Fox would have him starting. Fox doesn't want to lose his starting job.

Never said he was a saviour, nor did I say he has an impeccible resume. I merely pointed out that using his appearance this season as an indicator is poor, as he played in the same game that Delhomme played in and performed considerably better.

I do not get the whole, 'he played poor opposition' arguement, because we have been saying the same thing about Delhomme but in reverse. He has won a TON of junk wins. The amount of times we have won the last 3-4 games of the season because the opposition is already int he playoffs is countless. The thing is though, a win is a win, a loss is a loss. Moore provided a spark in 2007, although did not playing incredibly, he still provided the team a spark. A reason to believe and a reason to keep watching.

This season is in a similar situation. Ever heard the term, spiral of decline? That's our situation. Each game is compounding the issue and slowly building the animosity and unrest in the fans and potentially players. We NEED a spark. The defense will quit if they keep seeing the same ofensive performance.

Moore may not be the saviour, be the hero or even be any good at all. It's a change though, a chance of hope, a chance to deflect attention from Delhomme, who after 'catching his breath' for a few weeks can always come back in if the experiment does not work.

People keep saying how Moore looks poor in practice and pre-season. News flash. So does Jake. He always has and did look worse when nothing was on the line. Now though he has lost his fire and he is playing like he practices.

Standing pat pretty much means we know how this season will end, making a change though could ignite a spark to re-fueling this team with hope and belief.

Standing pat ensures Fox loses his job.

What I find funny is that you said in your OP was "Here are the facts..." You then showed Moore's stats as facts. When Urry showed the sames stats in a different way that makes Moore look better than Delhomme, you went to your opinions about the games he played as a ROOKIE. Stats arent facts...period.

The only fact is this...We don't know how Moore or Feely will play if they get the chance. We as fans are just tired of seeing the same thing with Delhomme week after week. That is the only fact that I see.

moore is an unproven and unknown commodity. we know what we have with jake. we know that feeley i garbage...he has started and played in more than enough games to know that.

with moore, all we have is potential. what harm could it do? we already know what harm there is in starting jake this year. let's try something different. let's do something that cold potentially bring some excitement to this team and fanbase. even if the season is lost...why not try and make the best of it. we don't need some sentimental swan song for jake. we need something that will at least show that the team is trying to win...that they are trying to find the answer here. that they are willing to go out on a limb and check and see if this kid could amount to something.

and the idea that if fox doesn't think that moore is worth a shot doesn't mean squat. fox gave jake an extension. jake is fox's boy. he isn't going to tun against the one that helped him get to the superbowl. he hangs on to players for far too long because he has loyalty issues and is unwilling to accept that someone near and dear to his heart could be anything less than what they are in his head.

fox thinking that jake is the better option and moore is not worth a start means nothing to me.
