From what I've seen they'll have minimum 27 million left in cap space.  Fill out the team with vets willing to take minimum or mid-level exceptions.  Kemba would obviously get a big chunk of that 27+ million left, to go with being the title favorite, live in LA, marketing potential, Space Jam 2 role if he wants it, and whatever else LBJ says.  Hard to turn down unless he truly wants to be a Hornet forever.

Of course, who knows on Space Jam 2 and crap, in 4 yr 27 mill is only 108 million.  That is less than half what we could offer.

If I'm not mistaken, the max a team (other than the Hornets) could offer him to begin with is 140 million.  Which he was willing to listen to anyway before the AD trade.  Helluva pay decrease like you said, but money doesn't seem to be his driving factor.  I think his heart wants to stay in Charlotte, but his head is screaming to get the hell out and play with actual NBA players for once.

4 year 140 is what I understand as well

but if LAL can only offer 27 per year that is only 108.  They still need the cap space to offer the 35/yr, yes?

Sorry, as a baseball/soccer guy, these cap things are like a foreign language to me.

Depending on what AD does with some bonus, they could have 27-32 million in space. Could renounce the rights to another player or two and be at 35 if it came to it.  No clue what's filling their bench out at that point, though.

First off, playing with LBJ right now would suck ass. He plays zero defense, and he'll probably get hurt again because he's going to be 35 years old. AD is interesting, but let's not crown a team that just traded away every asset imaginable for Anthony Davis as the now Title contender. Plus, Woj reported no free agents want to go to LA still other than AD. So...........living in LA would be the only perk I would see for him leaving. Space Jam 2? LOL. Good Lord if that's not a reach I don't know what else. Kemba seems like a loyal dude. He seems made from the same cloth as Damian Lillard, Giannis, and a few others. Maybe Kawhi.

I honestly am ready for LeBron to retire. I'm tired of this "join up with your boys in your prime bull poo" He's the one that started this crap. And it's borderline ruined the NBA. fug beating your friend, let's join up together and win. YAY!

He's going to keep the bonus Woj reported.

The Max.

"For now, the plan is to execute the trade on July 6, right after the moratorium ends on the start of free agency — and while both sides are open to moving the date, it’s unlikely that will change.

July 6 is the soonest the trade can be legally completed, and would require the Lakers to trade the draft rights of the No. 4 pick, rather than the player’s contract. It would also leave the Lakers without enough salary cap space to sign another free agent to a maximum contract. If Davis declines to waive his $4-million trade kicker, it would leave the Lakers with a little more than $23 million in salary cap space."

Choosing to join a Lebron team now is a losing bet. Lakers franchise leadership sucks too.

The way the NBA runs is so annoying though. I don’t get why the league thinks this type of draft/FA process is *good*.

The alternative is to remain with M. Jordan, a worse bet on all counts.

Not gonna argue there. If he goes I’d hope he doesn’t go to a team run by a gm who seems pretty shady, a weak ownership, and subject to the whims of whatever Lebron wants throughout the season.

Maybe the West has cleared out a bit due to injuries and whatever, but the above just doesn’t sound appealing.
