IMO Mayo isn’t worth 3 mil.  He was out of position for his run fits constantly.  Maybe he could get better but for 3 mil no thanks.  AJ Klein he is not.

Ya. No. With Luke’s propensity to get concussed. And luckily our proper treatment afterwords. You know a caller on the field.  Perhaps Shaq has trained as a caller but they always kept him nickel. If we could get Klein back at a decent rate more power to them but signing him local at 3 was a steal too. 

Dont forget who led the defense through so many runs.

Gotta agree there. He was fine as LB depth and core STer for around 6-800k/ year. Once he got a chance to make a little(but still too much) you move on to the next 5th round ILB/STer. Which they already had in Carter.

That's the way it should be.  There are only so many guys on a team that actually make much more than the league minimum, for the most part that is your starters, also there are only so many high draft picks on a team at any given time.

Backups tends to be old guys on cheap one to two year deals or young guys on cheap 4 year deals.  At least the young guys have some upside.

I think at times though coaches are partial to older guys, they take less coaching and they might be "safer" in the short term.  From an organizational stand point though I think it is a good idea to try and develop younger players on cheap rookie contracts.

Didn't realize at the time, but that 18 draft class was a foreshadow of the new 3-4 scheme. Haynes is a 3-4 OLB, Norton was nose tackle, and both LBs fit the 3-4 ILB profile.

To be honest ILB isn't the biggest importance in the 3-4. Yes having Luke and Shaq are great but it's not like if your MLB goes down in the 4-3. The 3-4 may actually extend Luke's Career simply because of less responsibly.

Yes and it had me scratching my head. I figured Hurndog was trying to convert some guys.
