For all the crap given Poe

Dontari Poe certainly had a disappointing season when juxtaposed against expectations when he was signed. I mean, the 66th best tackle (according to PFF) was not what we thought we were getting. That being said, PFF still graded his play as "above average." The man still is an effective space eater, had four tackles for loss, 17 tackles and a sack last season. You know whose grade was a little worse, as well as his stats at 17 tackles and one pass defensed? The man Poe replaced, Star Lotulelei. PFF graded him as "average," and even suggested that the Bills upgrade him by going after Sheldon Richardson earlier this off-season.

I guess that I say all this to say that I'd rather have Poe than Lotulelei. If nothing else, Poe gives off the demeanor as a guy that wants to improve, and with the players that he has flanking him, I wouldn't bet against him making a leap his second year in Charlotte.

I'm sorry, but reading internet grades and not watching real games separates fans from critics. Anybody who watches real games saw Star constantly double teamed and occasionally triple-teamed.KK benefited from that the most, when Star left, look how much KK dropped off. something the average fan doesn't realize is that when you have somebody getting double and triple team, their stats will be less, but their value to the team has far greater because obviously these opposition sees them as a bigger threat

Great comeback but you also have to be real about it. If you're not better than the 66th tackle in the league then you suck and that's far from above average. I think Poe will play well as a 3-4 anchor. His 4-3 play absolutely wasn't worth a third of his contract. Put a shiny spin on that. Hey don't let reality get in the way. I love ya dawg but a pig with a pink bow tie is still a pig.

OK. I know that you don't agree but...Just because a player isn't a standout player, especially at one of the less sexy positions in the game doesn't necessarily mean they suck. He was average at worst. He didn't get the push that we thought, but unless PFF is crazy and Rivera is a liar, Poe was at least somewhat effective at doing his job (which is primarily to eat up space). Sucking and not playing to expectations based upon what you're getting paid are two different things. A pay cut as opposed to just a cut might be the prudent option in these types of circumstances (but that can probably be said for a few guys last season which may be indicative of coaching woes more than anything else). People are being super hard on Poe in my opinion. If he doesn't improve next season, then we can deal with him accordingly, but I believe that if he really sucked, he would be gone. You seem to be looking at a number more than his play. I mean there are only 120 eligible Interior defensive lineman graded, but there are markedly more than that in the league.

Question. Do you think Chris Hogan actually sucks? PFF ranked him as the 110th best receiver in the league last season, but still gave him an "average" rating. The Pats axed him. Is that more evidence that he sucks? He certainly put up pedestrian numbers last season. I think he was average. What do you think about the fact that Next Gen Stats saying that he was the number one receiver in the NFL last season in average yards of separation? I mean, was Poe worse at DT than Hogan was at WR? I don't think so, but we all have our opinions.

So, Poe never got double-teamed? I saw him getting double-teamed. Short didn't fall off as much as people think, but just about the whole defense underperformed.

I said Star, not Poe. People think Poe underperformed, but he wasn't as bad as people think
