Good comment. I feel the same way. After watching this video I can see why the 3-4 front seems to be becoming more popular in today's pass happy league. A great 4 man d-line pass rush is ideal but those type of players don't grow on trees. And, even if you do put together a great d-line for a couple of years, by the time their contracts need to be extended you'd never be able to pay them all. This video shows that you don't have to have extraordinary pass rushers to create pressure and confusion on the defensive side of the ball.

I'm really looking forward to watching the defense Rivera puts on the field this year.

Mmmm. Just imagine:

McCoy, Poe & KK in the front

Burns/Irvin, Luke, Shaq & Mario @ LB

Reid, Bradberry & Action Jackson in the back.

This gonna be sweet

Good article explaining what to likely expect from the new hybrid defense not only here but probably all around the NFL in the near future.  I remember watching New England abuse KC in the first half of the AFC Championship game with these types of pressures.  Our last 2 drafts in particular have made it pretty obvious that we're looking to go more of this route.

If I remember, as a DC Rivera has led #1 defenses in both 3-4 and 4-3 so I'm kind of excited about the possibilities.

Honestly I feel our only hope of a Super Bowl is to give Rivera all the tools he needs to be a beast DC.
