Who is/are responsible for the "Panther Culture"??

I hate to say this because he's my favorite player but it took getting rid of Steve Smith for the culture we have now. Cam's competitive while also having a lot of fun, hanging out with teammates, etc and I think the guys really gravitate towards that, and any athlete would aspire to Luke's work ethic. Smitty was just too abrasive and intimidating, there wasn't a whole lot of camaraderie in the locker room when he was the main voice coming out of it. It's like going from a drill sargent to a camp counselor.

Define culture, and then name a couple teams who have a bad culture and why.

Fan culture, player, coaches, media, front office? Can you lump them altogether?

Is it possible for team with a good culture have a poor performance record and a team bad culture have a winning record?

Ultimately, as a fan, is culture more important that success?

When he got hired, and finished watching every minute of the previous season, he called the players together, and called them soft (they were).

Richardson always wanted the culture in the locker room to be tight.  He trusted Hurney and Fox, and they begun changing the culture into what we see today. There are more people responsible also, but it was those 3 men that started it all.

I think it starts with the linebackers, namely Rivera, Davis, and Kuechly. When I think about when we started to hear a lot about the strength of our culture, it was in 2013 when the strength of the team really coalesced around the ridiculousness of our linebacker core who set the tone. Cam is a big part of it too. He’s the face of the team, but i think Rivera and the lbs made the culture and cam bought into it and supported it. People hate on Rivera, and I understand that, but I think he is probably most responsible for identifying and nurturing the team leaders (Davis, kuechly, cam, Sam millsiii) so they could help him build the culture he wanted to create.

The answer is Richardson and Hurney. Richardson built the team and got hurney so things would be done his way. Strictly with the players, you couldn’t ask for much more in terms of great team culture than what JR brought to the table. His fingerprints are still all over the team and hurney is still the GM.

I think Richardson ultimately put the structure in place which shaped the group of players that were in the locker room.  I know Richardson is hated (rightfully so in most cases) but there were some positives from his tenure as the owner.

I felt this too, but in today's world I didn't want to shine the light on Big Cat again.  We have a good thing going, why don't we just enjoy some sun.  Many people live this culture around here, players, front office, fans and owner.  We are all one.

The overall culture is developed initially by the owner and GM but the locker room culture come primarily by the head coach. He instills it in the players and they continue it with new guys and rookies.

Who are the biggest contributors now? Kuechly on defense and Cam and Olsen on offense.

First of all, great topic OP.

I have to start with Rivera.  The team culture starts and ends with the head coach.  Rivera gets a lot of hate, but he is respected in the locker room as a man, a coach, and a former player.  Teams that have unraveled in the locker room often have coaches who can’t lead.  Look at Pittsburgh.  Internally they are an absolute mess and former players like Harrison, Bell and Brown have attributed it to Tomlin not treating players fairly.  Rivera leads our locker room.
