I'm not sure.  I guess we would be splitting hairs going back and forth, but that football team looked REALLY good last year until Cam's shoulder started to weaken...  Sh*t rolls down hill...  I think it affected the rest of the team.

You're right about the team looking good until Cam's shoulder injury, but I think the age of the defense also started showing up as well, and the offensive line regressed after playing above their heads for the first half of the season.

Some of that could be correlated to mentally knowing with Cam being hurt the chances of winning being less, who knows.

The bottom line is that the 3 issues that held the team back last year were the line play, secondary play, and most importantly, Cam's shoulder b/c he has proven he can make up for deficiencies in other areas of the team.

I hope the team has done enough to address these issues, and except for the secondary which is still up in the air, I think they have.

I think we have. The secondary is only as good as the defensive line. Its a chain reaction. Too much time in the pocket any qb will look good and any secondary will look trash. I think we addressed the concerns with Irvin, McCoy Burns

There's alot of questions and unknowns about Cam's shoulder....and with good means BUT I gotta say, the Mccoy signing took away a huge portion of the doubt. That paired with the velocity he was throwing with at kicking it with Cam and the reports of him regaining the range of motion that was absent since last year... he should be ready to rock by preseason. I'd actually work him in training camp and snap count him  in preseason...maximum 27.

My concern with QB#1: I fear every team we face will probably be targeting that shoulder....ie TJ Watt.

Our strengths and weaknesses are all on paper right now.

Cam's arm will show in the preseason.

Offensive line will show in the first quarter of the season.

New defense will show by the end of the first game.

Safety and secondary issues will show by the end of the first defensive series.

Right now, it's just on paper. The paper, though, looks good and there's reason for optimism. Staying healthy is, was and always will be the key to winning in this league.

That is what the offensive line is supposed to do, protect the QB and open holes for the running back.

Teams have been trying to target Cam since he entered the league.

Defensive players are trying to hit the QB as hard as they can without drawing a flag.  I don't think Cam is any different in that regard.

Cam can't be effective if he plays scared; we just need 5 guys that can prevent that from happening.  Hopefully we do a much better job this year than in year's past.

Cam play in fear?...no not my qb. I do think with the changes made to our Oline it has the potential to be the best he's ever had, so that gives me confidence. I know those five guys will hold up... I'm just hoping they play with a mean streak this season. I haven't really seen that since Norwell left - minus Trai.
