But with Rivera in full control calling plays, I have full confidence in his ability to call an elite defense. He is as good as any

It may also cause a rift

I honestly believe that Rivera is the best defensive minded head coach in the league today. If not for Cam's shoulder we would've beat the breaks off of the Saints, instead finishing the game at 12 - 9. That game opened my eyes to how important play calling and game planning is. The Steeler's debacle should've been Rivera's first hint that he needed to take over the defense.

Doesn’t require cap room or a roster spot.  It has a Tepper Steeler connection and only requires RR to acknowledge that he is willing to listen.  Make a call to a HOF CB/Coach who is considered the father of the zone blitz.... Dick LeBeau.  He was let go by Tennessee last year and is a football junkie with an enormous wealth of 3-4 knowledge.  Bring him on as a consultant and open your ears and minds.  He not only has front seven expertise but early on as a secondary coach almost always oversaw double digit interceptions. We could use a “Godfather” with Super Bowl experiences.

That's a damned good idea!

I'm going against the grain.  I think sometimes you can have too many chefs.   One message, one philosophy.  If Ron is running the defense this year then let him run it.  Having a coach with the stature of Lebeau would be like hiring a hot housekeeper.  Even if you have no intention on touching her, eventually you are going to look.

Its beyond me why people still have COMPLETE confidence in Rivera. I mean yes he has done well when the defense was stacked with talent, but the philosophy has always remained the same and it always gets figured out eventually. I would love some new concepts to the fold.

There's no cap or headcount on coaching staff.  Bring in the best.

I've never understood running a billion dollar NFL business and chintzing on coaching staff salaries.  The cap supposedly keeps everyone competitive so go spend money on the best coaching staff and FO personnel to gain that edge.

That being said, the dude is 81 and sat out all last year.  Already in HOF.  Enjoy your retirement.
